Support/wisdom

Posting. Not sure if it will help. Feeling very alone. Since three family members passed over a year ago. Depression and anxiety worsened.

Live alone. Have been trying to engage with people yet feel they dont understand how heavy and scared I feel. Is exhausting some days.

Tonight I feel scared to go to sleep.

Re: Support/wisdom

Hello @Be and welcome.

Grief and anxiety is a heavy load.

Did the people engage but not understand? Or did they not engage at all?

Loneliness is also very heavy.

Hi @Be

Perhaps try Griefline https://griefline.org.au and Beyond Blue https://www.beyondblue.org.au/get-support/talk-to-a-counsellor.

Longer term, seeing your GP for a mental health plan would be wise.

There is a lot of support and ways to move forward if you can engage with them.

Finding new meaning and purpose in life through self-reflection and supportive talks can be key.

Sleep is very important for our mental health. If you are comfortable, perhaps share why you are afraid of sleep.

Welcome to the forum

GRIEF is a unique journey.

I had to carry a lot of grief alone. I can relate to not being understood. It can take a while to find what will work for you. I did research a lot... on various grief writers....I used photos and mementos of my loved ones... to help me gradually let them go... and process my own feelings about it all. I also found music really helpful and began studying it after my brother passed away. Sometimes visiting the graves helped, sometimes moving on and finding new things to do and get involved in helped. There is an irony in that sometimes we feel it is not right to forget them, so my photos and mementos are good in that, I live my life in the now, but every now something jumps from the wall ... and I can think .... ahhh .... they made that ... or remember when such and such... and then move on.

Your path will be what helps you.

Tbh I am processing some new information about my brother's death at the moment, 30 years later. It doesn't change the fact that he died, but puts things in a fuller perspective. In that way the grief journeys can be life long. I have symbolic ways of being in relationship with them in my heart and mind... eg .... sometimes, I see them sitting on a cloud, with their legs swinging over the edge ...looking down on us mere mortals....and I can laugh and wave hello...

Be kind to yourself
