Talking through trauma and PTSD

PTSD shame after intimacy

PTSD shame after intimacy

Hi all,

I have a long history of PTSD, stemming from sexual assaults and an abusive relationship.

I've had an ongoing issue with feeling guilty and shame after sex. With anyone. Matter how well I know them. It's something I haven't been able to work through in the 10 years I've been active.

I can't understand why I feel such shame. As someone who is LGBT, sex positive and proudly so, i don't seem to be able to get through it. And it's destroying me. My relationships, dating, hookups, all of it.

Anyone else? How have you worked through it?

Thanks in advance>3

Dear @yousaiditnotme ,

Welcome to the forums. It sounds like you have experienced some significant challenges in the past. It takes a lot of courage to reach out.

I hear you have had these ongoing issues in the past where you feel guilty and shame after sex. Is this something you have spoken to a professional about?

Have you ever accessed QLife before? https://qlife.org.au/

They provide anonymous LGBTQIA+ peers support for those wanting to talk about sexuality, gender, relationships etc.

We look forward to hearing the community's insights here as well.

All the best.
