Forums Fixes Update

Dear Forumites, we have completed a new deployment of the forums. It contains the following changes.

Posting

  • Posts appearing in date order from oldest to newest (this is the same ordering as in the old platform).
  • The issues with posting on older / historical threads has been resolved.

Notifications

  • Notifications links, accessed from the bell icon, will now take you directly to the related post
  • Note, EMAIL notifications are still off. We are planning a deployment to re-enable these in the coming days.

Performance

This build contains more performance improvements, so hopefully members will enjoy a better overall experience navigating and using the forums. In particular, we hope that these improvements eliminate the 503 errors some users have been experiencing.

Other updates

  • Access to user profiles remains disabled. We expect to re-enable these today or tomorrow.
  • We are continuing to investigate the issue some members are reporting with frequent session timeouts. We are hopeful of deploying a fix to this in the coming days

Thank you for sharing - I understand this can be frustrating. Our tech team is aware of this issue and they are working hard behind the scenes to resolve things. While I'm not able to investigate or fix this directly from my side you can report any issued via our Technical Feedback Form.

@Vince1974 thanks for the continuing fixes.

In the previous version it was handy to be able to set defaults like reverse chronological sorting so newest displayed first - good for ongoing conversations. And automatically subscribing to threads you'd posted to. Perhaps we'll just need to adapt.

And tagging is a lot less convenient without the drop down lists of recent participants. Also supporters are no longer linked from the support button in a post and are only visible one at a time in our notifications. We have to rely on memory to use wordstems accurately to match people's usernames. Not always easy.

Hi @Vince1974, I don’t need a feedback form, I was just wondering on your updates on helping those with significant forum function issues, is this happening? Still some around that could really use some much needed assistance. Look forward to hearing from you as maybe you missed my last post.

Also if we use feedback forms how do we know what’s being reported? Could be 5 forms for the same thing which seems like a lot of dead work for both parties.

Thanks for all your hard work, still a way to go though. Hope you can deploy help to members with significant forum function issues as you see appropriate as they are important to us.

no notifications make it a tiny bit tough but it will work itself out
