Riding a wave

Riding a wave

Hi all,

@CherryBomb, @Former-Member or any other @Former-Member floating around Forum Land, will you ride a wave with me? I thought I would be fine doing something...but it turns out that the something has made my big feelings BIG and now I'm in a pickle...and there's nothing worse than a pickled turtle! I'm going to go and snuggle in my bed so I probably won't actually respond to you, but it will still super help me to know that I am not utterly alone on the wave. I don't want to tag anyone else because I don't want anyone to feel they need to respond. Thank you in advance for riding with me.

Re: Riding a wave

I am heading out of Forum Land for the night now. I feel bad that I am doing more taking than giving at the moment, but I'm afraid I simply have nothing in the tank...and realistically, this situation isn't going to be changing any time soon. I know you all understand. Shhhhhh, don't tell.

@Former-Member @Former-Member you are watching over the ocean tonight aren't you? This is SO hard. Every single time someone is invited to call the HC, it feels like a spear going through my soul. It is so hard. It is so so so SO hard.

Night.

Re: Riding a wave

Thanks @Phoenix-Rising for your humble opinion. I tend to agree that the good clinical psychologists are up to date and keep abreast of current research but as you probably know... knowledge is one thing... putting that knowledge into practise with complex and highly traumatised clients takes talent, intuition, empathy and ship loads of patience.
At least two of the psychologists who I spent therapy time with had a person past history of anxiety themselves and this inevitably rose to the surface when my behaviour became challenging.
The psychologist with whom I did DBT was very bright and also very strong giving me a sense of safety.
The psychologist I currently see is what I would call whip smart and keeps up when I
Go into oblique mind space.
And I like her very much.

Hi @Phoenix_Rising, Yes - I am watching over the ocean tonight. I hear that it is incredibly hard when you hear other members being invited to call the HC, and that not being able to call the HC is hard. I just wanted to let you know that I am riding these difficult waves with you Little Turtle.

Re: Riding a wave

Please keep faith with the best in yourself @Phoenix_Rising.

You are right we can have a fair idea about our own motivations ...

but cannot presume to know the other party's FULL set of motivations in a dispute. The person may be a nice person and all that .. but maybe they are not the right person for you to continue your journey with. If they dont get it for whatever reason .. they dont get it .. and go with flow of those who do.

One of the reasons I had a big picture view of community rather than a best friend, buddy view .. is that it allows for many degrees of separation ...

and connection.

and with enough degrees of separation maybe they can be out of sight .. out of mind.

You matter to me and I believe the forum would miss your input greatly.

I hope you slept well enough last night @Phoenix_Rising.

Narwhal making today?

Thinking of you.

Re: Riding a wave

@CheerBear I can't be in Forum Land today - too busy Narwhal making. Super can't wait to finish and show you and @Former-Member

I super hope today has some good in it for you and the LF. Oh I just remembered something I have to tell you...

At my volunteering gig yesterday, I got into an indepth conversation with a child who is awesome like me and Puffer Fish. He was trying to wrap his awesome head around the idea that Tasmania is a state of Australia even though he travelled on a boat to get there. We got so involved in our conversation, we totally forgot to pay attention to what we were actually supposed to be doing. Yay for awesomeness.

Re: Riding a wave

@Phoenix_Rising @Former-Member that is what I love so much about teaching the grade 3-4 age groups - you can have a really great conversation while they are still wanting to learn and being kids at the same time - it is a wonderful age to teach

Re: Riding a wave

Lots of smiles at your post again @Phoenix_Rising ☺. I made a narwhal (unicorn of the sea and all - how could I not). It gets a bit tricky with the horn and fiddly in the smaller rounds. If you get tripped up I'll be around-ish and both @Former-Member and I have had a go at making one too so hopefully we can help if it might help. Can't wait to see it!

And big yay for awesome littles 😊
