Riding a wave

Riding a wave

Hi all,

@CherryBomb, @Former-Member or any other @Former-Member floating around Forum Land, will you ride a wave with me? I thought I would be fine doing something...but it turns out that the something has made my big feelings BIG and now I'm in a pickle...and there's nothing worse than a pickled turtle! I'm going to go and snuggle in my bed so I probably won't actually respond to you, but it will still super help me to know that I am not utterly alone on the wave. I don't want to tag anyone else because I don't want anyone to feel they need to respond. Thank you in advance for riding with me.

Re: Riding a wave

Good afternoon @Phoenix_Rising and anyone in the ocean 🙂 (I wrote this post and then forgot to hit post!)

I do like the DT module, probably the most out of all of them. It's the one my psych suggests I look at often and is likely to set as part of my homework when I see them tomorrow, so this could work. Are we reading it to help with getting to Tuesday or are we reading it to help get through Tuesday (if you want to/can share)? I find the lead up to really tricky things sometimes even harder than the actual things but maybe you're better at the whole 'living in the now not tomorrow' thing than I am (mindfulness is my least favourite module 😛 )

Yay for a slinky! I love the sound of metal ones and they seem to be able to stand fidgeting and slinkying better than plastic ones. Go you for untangling it! Once a slinky is tangled in our house it tends to go to the slinky graveyard (that's because the fish seem to collect little annoying plastic ones that tangle but don't untangle).

That trauma informed thing is right up there with the most frustrating part of my experience with some organisations. Hearing and seeing how trauma-informed a service says they are, while my experience tells me otherwise, is some of the biggest brain mashing stuff for me. It's one of my hugest grrrrs.

I'm really sorry you haven't had many opportunities to practice repair in relationships. It's such a big part of strengthening them, and I can see how lacking those opportunities could lead to lots of sad feelings 😞

I seriously like the idea of going over what is and isn't helpful about a session. I'm thinking that could be something that could help me to do after my sessions with my psych, or any one of the people who I see or speak with. Maybe I could start a little reflective note taking file thingy... very cool 🙂

I've given myself a very strict time limit on foruming this afternoon, after doing nothing at all but lounging around half sleeping and half playing with some yarn all day. It means I'm not going to make it over there this visit ➡️ (or to any of the other places I want to pop by) to say how cool it is that a clinical psych took your words on board, and how much I enjoyed our orange juice, so I'll say it here instead.

I'm really glad you have TTT. Thanks for sharing your adventure with her with us.

Probably should maybe actually do something productive now instead of hoping a productive fairy will magically appear!

Hope the rest of your afternoon goes ok 🙂

Re: Riding a wave

@Former-Member will you ride a super giant wave with me? I was feeling ok when I got home from seeing TTT, but then I got squished by yet another email bus and now I am back to ultra struggling. I feel silenced, voiceless and powerless. It's not ok. None of this is ok. I feel super super super confused and scared.

@CheerBear I am going to snuggle in your pocket while you float around the ocean on your unicorn floatie. The waves are so big and the ocean is so scary right now, but I know that I am safe in your pocket. I know you can know without knowing and I know that we've got this - together-but-not.

Re: Riding a wave

@CheerBear,

I see that we appear to be cross-posting.

The idea of a slinky graveyard made me giggle. TTT's slinky is a plastic one, so I'd better be careful with it!

We are aiming to use DT to get through Tuesday. Happily for me, I'm still so overloaded with the wrongness of the wrong that I don't have any room in my brain to deal with more than that right now. I really won't be thinking about Tuesday until Tuesday.

That works well that DT is your favourite module. I think ER is my favourite...although it is the interpersonal effectiveness one that I re-read most often. I super like how the interpersonal effectiveness skills are spelt out so clearly, even a little aspie turtle like me can follow the instructions like a recipe and get a good outcome.

I definitely plan to have the last mindfulness post ready to post on Monday. I've already written half of it. I love that mindfulness is your least favourite module given that, you know, it is the core, central, fundamental module of the entire therapeutic approach of DBT.

I'm glad you've had a day of sleeping and playing with yarn. That sounds exactly like how the first week of school is supposed to be spent - for mums! I super want to get back to yarn playing. I am guessing that right now my yarn playing adventure is starting out like yours did - play a bit, get squished by a bus, play a bit more, get a bit more squished etc etc etc.

Ok, well if you are reading this at around 4:20pm on Thursday, methinks it might mean you aren't sticking to your forum time limit, so off you go now...

I’m really happy that you seem to be going well with TTT @Phoenix_Rising.
I think that you’re going to breeze through Distress tolerance because I think you already have a lot of these skills in your( bag )
...um...shell.
I’m looking forward to reading your next instalment.
We have a lot of experiences in common BUT
I like my orange juice with bits 😊

Re: Riding a wave

Good afternoon @Phoenix_Rising , @CheerBear , @Faith-and-Hope and anyone else reading this 😉

I am so pleased to hear that your session with TTT today was as enjoyable as it was. I imagine such excitment when you find new toys there 🙂 Slinky's are so cool. We have some at our place too and have slinky races down the stairs 🙂

I'm feeling the urge to go back and read about such amazing sounding pancakes. Reminds me of the most amazing dessert I made the other week...... ferrero rocher ice cream cake with a choc chocolate nutella sauce. OH MY it was amazing!

Watching out across the ocean with my bioculars in hand 🙂

I am in utter crisis @Former-Member.

I do not matter,

I'm only one person,

Destroy me completely,

Then throw me away.

Shhhhhhhh don't tell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Riding a wave

What have you covered in the book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory so far @Phoenix_Rising?

I'd love a golden ticket 😉

Re: Riding a wave

You can hear me without hearing me @Former-Member? Like @CheerBear? And you are right here? I'm so so so so so so so confused and afraid.

I have "talked out" my feelings to TTT in a form of art that I haven't done for a really really long time. She doesn't yet know that this is something I do. I know she will hear me...but I also know the bigness of this form of artwork and I know she will know that I have fallen out of the window. Alas, I have to wait an entire week to show her...but I know that when I do, she will hear me and that is calming. I feel super sad that I have fallen out of the window again because I know every time I fall out, it breaks my brain a bit more.

We haven't got up to the golden ticket yet. We are up to Grandpa Jo describing to Charlie how super amazing Willy Wonka is and how he can do impossible things like make icecream that doesn't melt even if you leave it out in the sun.
