Riding a wave

Riding a wave

Hi all,

@CherryBomb, @Former-Member or any other @Former-Member floating around Forum Land, will you ride a wave with me? I thought I would be fine doing something...but it turns out that the something has made my big feelings BIG and now I'm in a pickle...and there's nothing worse than a pickled turtle! I'm going to go and snuggle in my bed so I probably won't actually respond to you, but it will still super help me to know that I am not utterly alone on the wave. I don't want to tag anyone else because I don't want anyone to feel they need to respond. Thank you in advance for riding with me.

I will wait @Zoe7. No rush. I will just keep dumping. Yay for rocking and stimming and toy turtles!

Am I being bad for talking out my big feelings here? It says that your fellow forum members could be doing it tough too - posting about high distress, feeling suicidal or wanting to harm yourself is likely to increase their levels of distress. Does that mean it is bad to talk about these things? Um...well that's certainly going to cut down the amount of conversation that happens in Forum Land!

*flips up a like button, peers underneath and waves at @CheerBear*

@Phoenix_Rising, I just re-read that new section of the edited guide, and I can totally see why you are confused. I don’t know what the answer is, but it really does seem to be saying don’t call the HC if you’re distressed, or feeling suicidal or unsafe. 🙁

You are NOT being bad, @Phoenix_Rising. It would increase my levels of distress if you weren't talking out your big feelings here.

It really is summed up with that face:

@Former-Member That is what I'm reading too. How does that fit with moderators and other forumites encouraging people to do exactly that??? And where the hell does it leave people like me who are so traumatized by a bazillion horrendous experiences with lifeline counsellors, that I start screaming any time someone suggests it to me. I am totally and utterly screwed. There is simply no help for people with giant muddles like ours @Former-Member and @Zoe7.

Re: Riding a wave

OKAY @Phoenix_Rising here goes:

The major issue with EVERYTHING that has happened over the last week is mis-communication. One hand does not know what the other is doing and no 2 hands seem to know what another 2 are doing either. Aside from that - many things that have been communicated have not been transparent and infact contradictory. This is where I see you muddle - there are too many inconsistencies (and dare I say it - invisible things done that later come to light without prior notice). This, to me, suggests that instead of actually hearing the issues, things are being put into place - that can be highlighted in certain situations -that have not been openly visible before - and it has been done without notifying members of the changes. You and I (and some other members) actually read these things and I firmly believe that when changes like this are made we should be notified. I also believe that rather than helping to resolve this situation - or at least us waiting for Nik or Lauz as we thought would happen - it has been further muddled by yet another voice with another persepctive. This is not a way to solve any problem - by adding to it.

How can this muddle be getting more and more muddled a week on? It feels like we are going one step forward and two steps back.

@Phoenix_Rising I feel for NikNik - I hope she is enjoying her time off

Re: Riding a wave

I agree @Zoe7 and it scares me that people who don't "live" in Forum Land are calling the shots. Right now two weeks seems far too long to have to wait for NikNik. I felt ok about it this afternoon when I saw gailthefish's response. Not great, but ok. But covertly editing the guidelines like that is really really really icky.
