Hey, I read the story and the first line of failure was the police unable to recognise the mental health signs. And not knowing who to refer to to get a better idea.
Does sane do mental health first aid training? Or are there ways for sane to get in contact with these type of institutions?
the second line of failure; was the environment. Does this prison / NSW government have funding to add plants and a coat of paint to the environment? Do they have access to the facility to deliver a team like that to do so?
Justice, as the police are responsible for their failure to appropriately train and educate their staff. 1. Are they able to be reported to the royal commission? 2. Are the people responsible able to be fined for misconduct (eg unable and then have this as a note on their permanent record as a policeman? Why, why not?
