Hey @Artgirl-80laun
I am so incredibly sorry to hear about the passing of your grandson. Please don't apologise for venting here. You are carrying an unimaginable amount of grief right now, and trying to cope with that while your home doesn't even feel like a safe, quiet sanctuary to rest in is completely unfair. It makes total sense that your stress levels are through the roof 💚
When you're already running on empty, constant noise from a neighbour, regardless of the reason, is exhausting. It's okay to feel frustrated about the situation, and it's okay to love your neighbour but still be deeply impacted by the disruption.
Something I want to say is that when we are desperate to escape a situation, our brains try to force big, desperate solutions (like pushing ourselves to work through pain). Right now, you are in survival mode from grief. Try to put that massive decision on the back burner for just a few days while you process your loss. You shouldn't have to force yourself to work when you are unwell just to escape bad housing.
Since moving the bed didn't fully work, if you have the capacity, try sensory blocks at night, like loop earplugs, a white noise machine, or even a fan running near your head. It won't fix the situation, but it might give your nervous system a tiny bit of buffer.
I will say that housing providers can be quite slow, but if the noise is a constant disruption to your own health and well-being, you have a right to keep pushing. Sometimes, reframing the issue to them as a medical necessity for your own disability can add weight to a transfer request.
Your only job right now is to look after yourself through this horrible week. We're all holding space for you here 💚
