Re: Thursday Coffee and Chat -- 14th May 2026

Hello @Shaz51 @creative_writer @MissGremlin @tyme @Jynx and everyone here. Happy Thursday.

Thanks very much for the tag @Shaz51 . Very much appreciated! I also love the self care photos you’ve posted - very relevant to me right now. I hope your day has gone well for you!

I’m taking a study break from uni work after listening to a sociology lecture on families and relationships and what makes up a family. Very interesting from what I’ve learnt. I’m currently knitting a new jumper for myself in wool from Bendigo Woollen Mills called Prism- Mystic. It reminds me of the colours in the Great Barrier Reef- blues and greens of the ocean. Uni life has been stressful which is why I haven’t been on the forums lately along with carer issues as well. I’m lucky that I don’t have exams this semester in my degree so I don’t have to stress about them being an issue. I’ve got 5 more assessments to go for the semester and then I’m on holidays until mid July when uni starts all over again.

Tonight I’m planning on watching the Brisbane Lions vs Geelong Cats match on tv as they’re playing at home at the Gabba but I’m not car they’ll win after last weeks game against Carlton. I did go to Marvel Stadium and see Brisbane play Essendon which I really enjoyed back on May 2nd - my first time seeing the boys in a very long time!

As for the Melbourne Storm, it hasn’t been their year this year unfortunately. I’ve also been watching some netball games on streaming services as well.

Take care!

I'm good
My support worker took me to a community service place today.
I'm going to be doing some sewing.
Tomorrow we are going where I grew up as a child.

I have, @DogMan79 . What questions do you have?

@DogMan79 I've done both the medical and mental health ones. My gp did a cognitive assessment before she signed them.

@Dimity @Spirit_Healer

I'm not sure. I don't want to bork it, so I'm soliciting feedback in multiple places. With logic saying that process should limit mistakes being made

Re: Thursday Coffee and Chat -- 14th May 2026

Hello campers! Hope everyone is doing okay today.

I have been out all day running errands on foot. Been getting shortness of breath and feeling like I couldn't take a deep breath - cat kept sitting right next to my face looking worried, so I thought I should check it out. Blood pressure was up and I apparently have a chest infection - yayyyyy! At least its not my ticker. Made myself a beautiful big blister too - I did a fine job of it, I must say, my own fault - couldn't be arsed putting socks on😂

Wanted to share something that might help others...we are all storytellers. Everything that happens to us, every perception we have, we tell ourselves a story about. Usually its verging on the horror genre when we are not feeling good! But, guess what? You are the author and you own the copyright AND it is one thing AI cannot pinch (yet)! Good news is you can always rewrite your story - you can change how it made you feel inside even to a neutral feeling if nothing else. Do it with conviction and it changes your outlook and life seems a tiny bit betterer (new word, and I'm keeping it). Even the toughest situations can be made lighter by how you choose to describe them to yourself. And from that point you gain some traction to move forward. But do it in little bits at a time, don't try to 'eat the whole elephant at once' (they don't taste good, so don't eat elephants at all). Small steps forward make for small bits of progress, small bit of progress turns darkness into light. And be good to yourself - there are enough idiots out there trying to bring us down, don't be one of them to yourself, or others. I hope this message gave those who needed it some hope. Peace.

It's more straightforward than the older version @DogMan79 . If you have a case manager it may be helpful to do the form with them. Otherwise you could ask a trusted carer, family member or friend. It is a document outlining how you want to be treated if you become unwell and get admitted to hospital. It is not binding and can be overruled by treating staff. But is more likely to be followed if you are in a private hospital, rather than a public one.
