I'm really glad to hear the staff were there to support you when you fainted, and that they're taking your reaction to the pain medication seriously. I'm wishing you lots of rest and gentleness as you recover💜

Hello @MoonGal glad you've updated us. I know you were concerned about the effects of surgery and anaesthesia - I'm glad you were just a bit wonky from a painkiller rather than having a full-blown relapse.

Sounds like you'll need to pace yourself. Will you have inpatient rehab for long before going home?

I saw a surgeon today and had to raise my concerns about possible relapse - he talked through a workaround if I do need to go head ahead with the surgery.

@Dimity yes. I crashed outbofnmybhypo into a puddly weepy mess for a couple of hours but the keel seems to have righted itself. I've been out of bed three times to go the loo on the walking frame with minimal assistance since my vasovagal syncope aka faint. So all going ok.i am sure i will be up andcdown emotionally for a bit. 6 weeks without showers just chair washes will be actrial but i'm so lucky to have a lovelynpartner to tote the bucket and helo was whrre i can't reach, wash towels etc. Si grateful. Not easy being 'dependant'.

By the way... something that happened at the beginning of the wallpaper and flying birds hallucination as it started out as an ominous black ball with 8ish legs and i said out loud "no! I won't have that unless it's FUN." And as wierd as it was it was a bit sweet and wondrous. Glad it's stopped now though cos it got old fast.)

We are vulnerable and tough.

I think the emotional reaction and weepiness isn't surprising @MoonGal . Glad you haven't fainted again.

How are the meals?

You're so lucky to have that support from your partner. Hopefully the 6 weeks will go quickly..

We're having a cold snap in Melbourne after a couple of weeks of lovely sunny Autumn days.

Now Day 3 after hip replacement.

Lunch today was lovely. I didn't have much appetite since the surgery but this hit the spot.

I am feeling so much better. Able to get in and out of bed by myself, using a walking frame to go to the toilet.

My mental health has improved heaps since yesterday. Still very foggy but on even keel.

Going home tommorrow for another 2 weeks of similar - bed exercises 4 x a day slowy increasing from 5 repititions of each exercise to 10. Walking at home every hour. So slow and steady gets there.

I set goals for supervised walking in the hallway today. To the door of the next room 5 metres then back, to the ward doors 10 metres then back. I will have to do that one again because i didn't make the 2nd goal. But it is far enough to get me from the driveway to the lounge room to rest before doing a second leg to my room tomorrow. Would be a dissster if i coukdn't walk all the wsy inside.

All in all despite the rocky start I am getting through it.

Excellent progress @MoonGal . Well done. Hope you make the 20m goal soon. But getting home and walking inside is the main thing.

Glad there were no more spooky spiders or animated wallpaper. Hopefully you're out of the woods now re anticipating mania, especially if you've been sleeping well.
