Welcome and getting started

Social groups

Social groups

I have a big network of other friends who have mental health issues and are consumers. But lately I’ve been feeling the urge to only hang out with my high functioning friends. I’m tired of hearing someone got arrested or has relapsed on abusing substances. I want to hang out with other people who have jobs and families. Is this wrong?

Hey @Schizopetey ,

I hear you. No, it's not wrong at all. You might find that social groups can vary where some you like to hang out with at certain time and others at other times. It doesn't mean your social group can only be one or the other, right?

So where to from here? Do you know how or what the starting point is to find some of the people you want to hang out with?

@Schizopetey I believe we all have the right to make those kinds of choices, and prioritise our own recovery, and be around people that bring out the best in us. Some times it can also be about different kinds of boundaries, and being careful where our energy goes in the ebb and flow of relationship, and group dynamics.
