The Comedy of errors continues . . .

The Comedy of errors continues . . .

So some of you may be aware of my stories. Recently being forced onto sick leave at work because they can't figure out how to handle my Autism diagnosis in the workplace.

Update - an appeal has been lodged by my union rep, it's now just a game of wait see.

Then there were the housing dilemmas, nearing homeless, then getting a place only for the person that co signed the lease to start to get cold feet.

Update - we got a place, housemate has since calmed down and we are in a good place again.

Now for the real story! We start trying to move in on Saturday the clean up and start with a few small loads (movers booked for all large furniture on Monday)

The property had been having some renos done for the month before we moved in. But when we got here we found that someone had ripped the wire mesh door off it's hinges at the back door, the property manager who had done the condition report 3 days earlier had left the wooden - main door unlocked! We found evidence that someone had 'lived' here for a bit. We found a variety of stolen goods - laptops, gaming equipment and other random rubbish and furniture dumped.

I can't even begin to explain the stress and shock that I went into.

It was a long day, lots of calls made to the real estate, and lots of bullshit excuses from them.

Sunday we were put in touch with the landlord. Who turns out to be the most amazing, lovely man and was just as disgusted and horrified about what had happened as we were.

He then spent hours here Sunday fixing things and cleaning. Bought us chocolate and wine, and is personally organising for the more intensive repairs and maintenance of the course the week.

Today and the rest of the week is dedicated to cleaning up the old place. It's been quite and intense and emotional experience - 10years there. I was not very diligent at keeping ontop of housework and getting other housemates to do their share. I'm feeling a lot of shame around it, that I could never stand up for myself. There is a lot of work to do, but also have to keep reminding myself about the fair wear and tear policy. My anxiety is through the roof, that it will not be good enough and I will lose the bond.

I have been heavily relying on my support workers these last few weeks. They have been amazing and gone above and beyond.

And because all tech hates me, there were all these random problems with getting the internet connected, took over a week for it to get sorted.

Plus the removalists damaged the back door frame at the place we were leaving. And damaged a door at the place we just got to - so I am trying to get them to claim responsibility and fix things, but that is turning into a bit of a drama as well.

So, yeah . . . . . Guess I just wanted to share my story.

Hey @FracturedBeing, you’ve been dealing with so much all at once. It makes sense you’re stressed and you've been feeling anxious!

I just want to say, the way you’ve handled it all, making the calls, getting things sorted, leaning on your supports, that’s a lot, even if it doesn’t feel like it right now.

It’s also really understandable that some of those feelings of shame are coming up around the old place, especially after being there for so long. But it sounds like you’ve been doing your best in a really tough situation, and you’re not alone in finding things like that hard, especially when you’re already dealing with so much.

It’s really good to hear your support workers have been there for you, and that your landlord has been so understanding, that must have been a bit of relief in the middle of everything.

Thanks for sharing what's happening for you here. Be gentle with yourself as you get through the rest of the move 🤗
