Something’s not right

I found out why I lie about being OK

I found out why I lie about being OK

often im either trying to break the silence or simply do not have the time or energy to elaborate on what’s going on in my life that makes me actually feel not OK

I feel like some people in my life have sensed that but never confessed that to me, I wish someone told me sooner but at least I know now

Hey @moodyahhhhh

Just thought I'd jump in here and say something, as no one else has responded to you yet 💚

I feel like it's rather common to feel you have to choose between total honesty (which is very energy-consuming and takes a massive amount of vulnerability) and a polite lie (which maintains peace but feels lonely). When you are already feeling so drained, explaining the 'why' and going into detail is immensely exhausting. Making the choice to say you're okay isn't necessarily dishonest; it is a way of protecting your own peace and energy until you have the strength/ability to go deeper into what you are truly feeling.

Please be kind to yourself as you sit with this. You do not owe the world an explanation of your internal life, especially when you're just trying to survive the day. I also want to remind you that there is no pressure to perform here 💚
