Housing issues

Housing issues

Well the good news of finding a place to live didn't last long.

The person that signed the lease with me, now no longer wants to be part of the house (they're having their own mental health issues)

Just wish they had been honest from the start, I have a week and a bit to move into the new place that I can't afford alone. Clean out the old place to get my bond back. I don't have capacity to start another sharehouse with new people, I already was ripped off and traumatised by things that happened in my current place.

I feel like I am drowning, and no one cares to help.

With my work also trying to claim they can't accommodate my Autism requirements, (that they have been ignoring for the past year), and forcing me onto sick leave.

The NDIS people are no help

I'm so sick and scared all the time, can barely eat and am often sick if I do.

My body and brain feel like they are breaking down. Crisis phone lines haven't been able to help.

This Easter long weekend has been a draining disaster or constant panic attacks that none of my coping mechanisms are working.

Re: Housing issues

@FracturedBeing that is heavy stuff. Relying on other people - usually leads to disappointment. But there might be a FIFO person out there who wants a place to share? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Re: Housing issues

Hey @FracturedBeing

I am so deeply sorry to hear about everything that has been happening. You've made it very clear that you're being hit from every possible angle in life, like housing, employment, health, etc. It is very understandable that you feel like you are breaking down 💚

It is incredibly unfair that your workplace is failing to meet its legal obligations for your Autism requirements, and that the NDIS and crisis lines haven't provided the safety net you deserve. And to have your housing security snatched away, especially given your past trauma with sharehousing, it's all an enormous weight for anyone to carry.

I am wondering what would be the most helpful to you right now. Are you just needing a safe space to vent without judgement or would getting some suggestions for disability advocacy services who can push back against your employer's claims, or something else?

We're all here for you and we all want to listen to you 💚

Re: Housing issues

Hi @FracturedBeing

this other person has already signed a lease agreement by the sounds of it, which is a legally binding document. As much as you want to be kind and let them go, they can’t really just say nah don’t wanna live there now. You would have paid a deposit and bond yeah? Just like breaking any lease, there are fees that need to be paid and it’s not fair for them to a. Leave you to cover the full rent for the property and b. to leave you to cover those break lease fee. Your both on the lease, your both liable for the rent because if you can’t cover the rent alone they would not of approved you alone.

you can be understanding of this persons mh issues, but they also need to take responsibility of their actions. I rent with my mum and it would be the same for me.

can you sit down with them and talk?

Hopefully we are going to get to have a chat on Tuesday.

I have a strong feeling of the outcome though 🫩

Re: Housing issues

I'm really not sure, I'm still in a state of shock. My body doesn't recover/react well to stress. And most things that people could work through in a few hours can take me days.

I'm just trying not to have a knee jerk reaction and do/say something inflammatory myself.

Re: Housing issues

Hey all

Just an update. We have talked it out and the move is going ahead. But it has still been quite stressful for both of us. Just the upheaval after being here so long and having to move much further out than we had hoped because of how crazy the pricing has gotten, got to both of us.

On top of it all, I have had my own work issues that have taken an extreme toll on me. Thank god, for my amazing GP and Union lady that are fighting for me (everything is still in the appeals process). I've never had so much of my life changing in such a short period. It's been indescribable how it had effected me, body, mind and soul.

My support workers are the only way that I have been able to survive these last few weeks.

@FracturedBeing I’m relieved and sad for you at the same time.
Relieved that the move is happening and sad for the workplace situation.

Mostly happy that you have support and people that advocate for you.
