Depressed with my situation, later 50s

Depressed with my situation, later 50s

Hi there people thx for having me. 1st post so l this is an ok place for depression as l couldn't find a depression section.

lt seems to me crazy especially at this stage but l'm just so damn stuck about my situation and just can not seem to be able to come up with a decision on what to do with it.

l didn't do well getting rid of my house but l did still also have a block of land in a small town. My ex and l bought it yrs back it was just suppose to be an investment but now because of the way things went with my house, it's looking like the best solution from here would be to just build something on the block. There's no debt on the block at all now and l do have small savings left that l could build a simple house with so financially it'd be ideal as l'd have no debt or mortgage.

Problem is a few things.

1stly, although l moved to regional area awhile back now, l grew up in the city but the town here at the block is tiny, no shops just a pub. Nearest decent town is 45k away.

The block does have a small cabin on it and l;ve been staying 6mths now supposedly figuring out whether l wanna build on it of not.

lt is a pretty block and spot and l'd have no debt if l just stayed here, where as not only don't l feel up to moving any more but l can't afford to now or to take on a new mortgage either after the house loss but somewhere better would be much much dearer and there'd be no way without one.

Trouble is, the town depresses the hell out of me especially at night every night l just sink again even if the day hasn't been too bad, sometimes even quite nice. Night comes round and down l go.

lt's just so damn small and away and at night there's just nothing except house lights on, that's it.

l mean if l had a choice l wouldn't choice to settle here never bought it back when for that at all, it's just the best solution though all round for sure. All round except that l just get so damn depressed out here.

So 6mths and l'm still absolutely nowhere about building something so l'm still just in the little cabin. Trouble with just doing it is, that if this went on and l just hated it here, l might not even be able to sell it and get my money back anyway and it still leaves the same problems above, with going somewhere better anyway.

lt's mad but l don't think l've ever been so stuck in my life.

Best to all.

mr

yeah , could have done sorting years ago @Appleblossom

oh , carport will give more shade, but tree so painful w ferny type leaves always getting blown off

then theres a gum down back that is right next to houso flats. already dropped a branch onto fence. its grown like 10 metres last 3years ie needs to be cut down soon , just too close to neighbours, doesnt have any function. just reminds me the watertable must be close to surface. trees/bushes indestructible here if get established even with ridiculous summers and no water from me

Enjoy your CBD trip say hi to Cheech and Chong for me jk haha ok youre game going into city, well done

Was surprised the noice Celtic harp lady got us all playing this song today. It was good doing it without black dots or knowing what it was about. I used claptsticks, recorder and sang. Not sure if its too norty, but I loved it. She said she wants to do different words, being about finding a happy place to escape.

Was really surprised when I realised what it was.

Had a few good chats on the train. I dont mind going into the city. Got a bit splashed on with the rain, but used to walk to school and work everyday rain or shine. It doesn't bother me. My hair isn't so fancy that I will freak out, if water drops flatten my curls. lol They are robust enuff to bounce back.

Ahhhh, such a great song that one, didn't like her version much though sorry, no passion/soul, sounds like she's in a hurry.

urr, Golden brown .

Haaa, took train last wk down to Melb, pick up a car. Love the train, always loved trains. Grew up with a track a few 100mtrs down from my house and hearing the trains so if there's a train anywhere, l feel at home haha. Mind you, that Melb trip l also had the flu , twas a bit tricky trying not to cough and sneeze all over everyone and hold it in.

@TAB

Anyway great to hear Tab, your really settling in there and calling it home mate, bloody fantastic, heaps goin on.Really inspired me with the situation here.

Funny about spending the old money before you have it eh, classic have done but eh, they'll come good and you'll pay for all your sins later.

All your jobs round the house sounds like here now that l'm staying.

The extensions half finished- can't wait. Finally managed to pick up my new cruiser last wk- well she ain't as in brand new but she's nice and man whata sound system . Took some of my new cd's for the trip home- 3hrs, and bloody enjoyed tell you what , flu and all- whata day, but that sound system and the car, ahhhhh.

Mth or so back had to go over to Portland for my new ride on ahhh, well that is my 25yr old new ride on , man she's a classic love it, a lot like my old one that was 30yrs old, bloody ripper.

So now l can mow up better- the other one was awhile back now and l've only had the push mower since l moved on. Bloody funny trying to mow half ac with 3ft high grass and weeds with the push mower so l could only get through about 1/2 of it.

Set now though.

Planted onions the other day, and urrr, some of those other tomato looking plants - one of my hobbies haha, got a nice little spot here great sun, can't wait to see em go off.

Apart from that mainly just working on the extension last 6wks, lookin good though, about 1/2 way done. Yourself and others here were my inspiration in the decision to just stay mate and can't thk yourself and the others enough. And now that l've got a better car and sound system to enjoy the tripping about, fkg unreal, extension happening, place is looking better, tomato's are in ummm, so to speak, feeling really nice, really plsd .

So while l'm at it, huge cheers to all and thx again to all.

Haa, already did the van and go bit buttt nah, gonna stay put l decided, feels nice to so l'm really plsd about it.

Still got me van to actually so l can still take off anytime but now l'll always have the base here to come home to later. Twas a good choice l think been feeling really relieved about it all now tbh.

Re: Depressed with my situation, later 50s

yeah same re push mower and 3 ft high weeds. Igot a whipper snipper, should have got 2nd hand ride on seen small one for around price of cheap new mower. it would have an easy life here lol w1/4 acre block but yard mostly derelict behind house. Driveways like Batcave entrance in 1960s tv batman, car goes in then trees reappear, can only see trees lol

ust slack here. house is liveable and dont want to over -capitalise but shade on from morning and afternoon sun a big selling point for patio out back and carport in drive

ha ha have fun w. hooter weed lol . housemate had some in pots, good potting mix and tonnes of seasol they went nuts.dont think they ever got much , too many visits with scissors b4 heading to microwave. oh and dog ate cookie mix off stove and went psychotic for days. near died lol

@mrmista thanks re site, glad things picked up.
