Freaking out the therapist.

Freaking out the therapist.

Saw my counsellor today. We talked about my feeling suicidal. I think I kind of freaked him out. He's text me tonight with the number of a couple of emergency groups...mental health access and lifeline. I said I would call them if needed but I don't intend to...I either make it or I don't. I will try to make it but I am not going to hospital. Anyway, got too many things to do this weekend.

Have a good weekend.

Re: Freaking out the therapist.

Utopia...most unions have a file about Insurance doctors (...erm..."Independent Medical Examiners") who are particularly problematic. A good law firm can use the information about these doctors with devastating effect. There's more than one doctor who has modified his/her approach to Workcover recipients in light of complaints made about them. You have to remember that just as injured workers have a history, so too do the doctors. Some doctors would prefer that their histories remain just that...histories.

Unfortunately the system we have in Victoria is more based on confrontation than conciliation. I suppose the other states follow suit. My attitude during these examinations is to cooperate with all questionning but to block any attempt to rattle me or have words put into my mouth. The real downside of these assessments is that they can knock a mentally-ill person back into extreme depression and/or anxiety. The whole system stinks because of this. Workcover was primarily designed for physical injuries and it is awful at dealing with mental health issues.

@Stroppy. Yes I get very anxious days before an assessment.
This so called doctor. I looked him up on google after I got his report. Clients complain about him. His CV shows the contempt others have for him in the Psych world. He makes diagnosis - the opposite of what other psychiatrists diagnose. A few times with deadly consequences.
Yet Workcover still haven't replied to my request to remove his assessment from my file
