Something’s not right

Visual/Auditory Hallucinations

Visual/Auditory Hallucinations

I deal with psychosis on a daily basis both visual & auditory hallucinations.

My solution to them as they call themself Devils is to not think at all to not use my head to think to myself like reading a book or talking in one’s own head.

To ignore that they’re there and move on with my life.

I’ve only been having this newly found psychosis for a couple of months and it has been a struggle town, I hope this information is useful to somebody who is experiencing something like this and is seeking help for it.

Never be ashamed for asking for help as we all need it at some point in our lives.

Hey @OneEyedAngel

It takes a lot of mental strength to navigate "struggle town" when your reality feels invaded daily. I wanted to thank you for sharing your strategy. It is a powerful perspective for anyone who feels overwhelmed by the "noise" of psychosis.

Since "thinking in your head" feels like it invites the hallucinations in, some people find that externalising their focus helps. Instead of internal thoughts, they focus 100% on a physical task, such as the sensation of water on your hands, the weight of a stone, or even the rhythm of your own breathing. It keeps your headspace occupied by what is happening in the present moment.

I understand that the first few months are often the hardest because your brain is still trying to make sense of what is happening. It is okay if some days are harder than others. The fact that you are already here, reaching out to others to help them, shows so much resilience and genuine compassion.

I was wondering, when you are in that "no-thinking" zone, is there a particular activity or hobby (like music, exercise, or a craft) that helps you stay grounded in the present moment?

I am so glad that you are here with us all and sharing what has been working for you.
