I just want to say, you should be so proud of your self for studying. You've chosen to do something so important and valuable for yourself and that really matters. Don't let anyone tell you anything different! Keep going 🙂

Hey @LostAngel , sorry to hear the grief and anger that is popping up around your ex. It sounds so hard. Are you able to block him so that you no longer 'see' what's happening for him? I know this is hard, but from my experience it brings a lot of anger and sadness when you see people moving on while we feel 'stuck'.

As for your studies, well done! Hope things improve for you

Re: Unhappy and Missing my Ex

Hey @LostAngel

It sounds like you're navigating a massive internal tug-of-war right now. First off, a huge congratulations on passing 3 of 5 units! That is a major win, especially when you're carrying this much emotional weight at the same time.

It's completely understandable to feel "safe but sad." There's a specific kind of grief that comes from making the right choice even when the wrong choice felt more exciting.

Doing the right thing for your long-term security (like staying safe and focusing on your career) often feels boring or restrictive in that moment. It's okay to be mad that "being responsible" doesn't feel as sparkly as a plane ticket to another country.

It is also so easy to look at an ex's social media and feel like they "won" because they look happier. But remember, you mentioned they were mean and manipulative. A happy picture does not erase that behaviour; it just hides it. You are doing the hard, honest work of building a future for yourself, and they are just posting highlights of what they want the world to see.

You are not "limiting" yourself by being cautious; you are protecting the version of you that will eventually travel abroad. Going to a dangerous situation for a manipulative person isn't an adventure; it's more like a trap. By finishing your studies and getting the job you want, you are building the financial ladder that will let you travel on your own terms later down the track.

I will also say that feeling mad at him and at yourself is a sign that you know, deep down, that you deserve more. It's okay to be "mopey and mad" today, especially when the weather isn't helping.

You aren't "too comfortable," you are being brave enough to choose a difficult path now so that you can have a truly safe and happy life later.

Since you have those goals for Sydney and Scotland, does it help at all to keep a travel fund jar or a vision board near your study space to remind you what those past units are actually buying you for your future?
