Hey @Penguincat
Thank you so much for reaching out and sharing how you're feeling. It's a very heavy time for many of us, and acknowledging that world events are impacting your mental health is a brave and important first step. You are definitely not alone in feeling this sense of overwhelm.
To ensure this thread remains a helpful resource for everyone's well-being, I'd like to focus the conversation on mental health. While the events themselves are significant, I want to make sure this remains a supportive space where we can discuss how we are managing that stress and anxiety, rather than diving into the complexities of politics or religion.
When the big world feels out of control, here are a few ways I've seen people, including myself, stay grounded during these times:
- Creating News Free Zones: setting specific times to check for updates on world news, then intentionally logging off, can help you regain a sense of peace and control in your immediate environment.
- Focusing on the "Micro": sometimes, pulling our focus back to our daily routines, like a hobby, a walk, or a quiet cup of tea, can act as a necessary anchor.
- Radical Self-Compassion: Give yourself permission to log off. Taking a break from global issues isn't an act of "not caring"; it's a necessary way to refuel so that you can continue to show up for yourself and those closest to you.
I'd love to hear from others on the forum about what one small thing has been helping you find a moment of calm this week? Whether it's a book, a favourite recipe, or a grounding routine, sharing those things can really help us all as a community.
