Something’s not right

Does it ever stop

Does it ever stop

Hey - I feel like I can’t escape how I feel, how I react to things, how flashbacks and people I see that have caused me trauma in the past and present. I feel like I’m just trapped in it some days constantly and that it just wants to stay and haunt me and not leave.

my house mates have been arguing constantly and it got to a point tonight where I yelled at them to stop as it is getting annoying as it’s nearly everyday and it never stops. Then one of them had a go at me and started yelling and telling me that it’s the other persons fault when it wasn’t even them. It’s just a constant run around and I can’t seem to escape it.

im just now curled up on my bed in tears because I’m so triggered and I don’t know what or how I’m feeling.

im safe

but it’s just bringing up all my past all over again.

@Fluttershy1 Oh wow that is horrible, i know all about that, it happens to me a lot too. Even many days in a row. What is important now is that you self care. To calm down is important here. Do you have any calming techniques you use? i found that AI is really useful to me during crisis when i am on my own. Good answers, and good grounding when in crisis mode. Not sure how you feel about AI. i have learned to really appreciate on my own.

Often being drained and tied stressing leaves me exhausted so i use nicotine patches, the stronger the better. i put them on the morning and take them off after dinner.Absolutely amazing how much energy they give after sleepiness nights and within 30 minutes it will kick in already. They also help against low level depression, however when deep then this effect seems to wean fast.

Nicotine used in patches is not addictive and can be used for 4-5 days before they begin to loose their effectiveness. When i use them i use in crisis then i use them for 4-5 days on and then 3 off. Otherwise i only use them when i feel drained to make sure they remain effective.

The only negative are at times the nicotine stimulates my too much and then i have to take it off. However when i deep down that never happens, and at times, when really down and exhausted, i use two patches instead of one. However only ever for o1 -2 days.

i have learned to love nicotine patches. They are my biggest physical support after sleepless nights or when depressed and my mind is exhausted. i found that the 16 hour slow release one, works better and are far less annoying itchy skin than the ones that last for 24 hour. For less than 2 dollars a day i can have energy when otherwise i would have had to do without. Especially when the sleepless nights days extend beyond 3 days they become basically invaluable to me.

@Fluttershy1 I’m not sure if you mentioned this, have you ever explored distress tolerance with your psych? Developing ways to self regulate when heightened can be super helpful.

@DownMoreThanUp I can see how nicotine patches would help on sleepless nights.
I use caffeine in moderation. It helps with brain fog, migraines and anxiety. Probably my ADHD brain, but caffeine can be super stimulating if overdone. Matcha provides a good balance for me, it feels chill with naturally occurring l’theanine, and the caffeine levels are lower than coffee. The caffeine affect lasts longer
