Rapid cycling treatment resistant Bipolar I Depression

Rapid cycling treatment resistant Bipolar I Depression

Anyone suffer? I’ve mainly had problems finding medication without crippling side effects has been my issue I think. I have great regular psychiatric care. Same eyes same mirror, same eyes same colours, same person, same mind. So hard to cope with the polar opposites I suppose and help my daughters and husband understand.

Sorry to hear about your 'treatment resistant' bipolar @Kindcrystal . It sounds so frustrating that you haven't found medication that works for you.

At the same time, I feel that the term 'treatment resistant' is a downer when it comes to the hope of finding something that works.

I was deemed to have bipolar may moons ago. Later, that label was removed and I was given the label BPD. Whatever it is, it took me years to find the right concoction of meds that worked for me (for other MH conditions). I know you mentioned you have great psychiatric care. I wonder if a second opinion will be helpful too?

Please know you are not alone. There IS hope.

Thank you. Yeah it is not a nice term. We sometimes say difficult to treat… I’ve had a lot of medication changes weird side effects at low doses and tried a lot of other therapies too. I’ve definitely had multiple opinions there doesn’t seem to be any doubt including multiple admissions. I’m about to learn about another new therapy in a few weeks time which I’m tired thinking about but could help me too.

Sounds like you just needed the nap! Now, let me guess.... the nap was ...un, an hour long? @Kindcrystal

Yeah maybe a tiny bit over but I think the crash after a mania sometimes you just need to nap!

Re: Rapid cycling treatment resistant Bipolar I Depression

Fair enough @Kindcrystal . Why not nap? I guess the only issue is if you then can't sleep at night 🙂

How are things going for you this weekend?

Did you get up to much?

Re: Rapid cycling treatment resistant Bipolar I Depression

Yeah agree. I suppose I try really hard to keep some semblance of sleep hygiene no daytime naps for that reason. But I do allow myself to exercise 1-2 hrs in morning but then just spend a lot of the day laying around because I’m flat. I really want to nap today but I don’t want to get into a habit I can’t break not sure I can ask my doctor next week maybe
