Thats not too far then @Shaz51

Taking the wheelchair sounds like a good decision. Can be hard standing up a lot of the time.

MIL is doing well for 91.

Re: Friday Coffee and Chat -- 6th March 2026

Is she still living by herself @Shaz51?

It would be hard to give up that independence but if she is struggling with basic tasks then it might be needed.

H's grandma lived by herself until 94 when it got to the stage where she needed more help.

Re: Friday Coffee and Chat -- 6th March 2026

Must put a lot of pressure on her daughter @Shaz51 Sounds like it is almost a 24 hour job.

It's hard, not wanting to make them give it up, but at the same time her D has to still live her life.

I often feel bad about my mum being in a retirement place, but then I do remember that she was the one that made the choice. It was her decision.

@Snowie

Sending you lots of understanding hugs my sister ❤️

When my mum broke her hip at 91( I was her carer in her house )

, the doctor advised us that she needs to stay in the aged care part of our local hospital
