Vulerability is___________?

Vulerability is___________?

What is vulnerability to you?

In today's world, strength is something that many of us admire. But what is strength? I'm sure many of us on here don't see it as some brute force. I see strength as openness, acceptance, to look at adversity in the eye and carry on in a true and real manner. I think it's the ability to be authentic, the ability to really be ourselves, that is, the ability to let ourselves be vulnerable. There are many myths about vulnerability like, it's a sign of weakness, some people don't experience it, and that it means spilling all your secrets. But these are false. Brené Brown did some very interesting research, and found that people who allow themselves to vulnerable actually experience whole-hearted lives and a greater sense of well-being. You can find about more about the 'power of vulnerability' the video that I posted below.

I'm interested in knowing about some of the instances you have felt vulnerable. Thinking about any experiences you've had, can you have a go at finishing this line, 'Vulnerability is ______

Re: Vulerability is___________?

Vulnerability is opening yourself up to people, allowing them to share your experiences.

I recently opened up a lot because I have just started Uni. The advice I received from the Uni. was to let people know as much as possible about your studies and establish some people as supporters. It recently backfired when my boyfriend spent 20 mins telling me I should take a break from my assignment. I wished I had not told hm as much about my studies because I really didn't appreciate the way he was trying to help me. Is there any way to become less vulnerable?

Vulnerability is living with uncertainties and ambiguities.

Re: Vulerability is___________?

That's not vulnerable. Your boyfriend sounds like my previous partner. I chose Uni over him. It was hard to do, but worth the peace of mind...

Re: Vulerability is___________?

Vulnerability is an underlying condition which can be activated by stressful situations. When this happens anyone can show signs of a mental illness whether they have one or not. I'm vulnerable to other peoples opinion because I feel hurt when their opinions do not match my own. I am working to change that.
