So called Justice, Mental Health, Psychosocial and Developmental needs

So called Justice, Mental Health, Psychosocial and Developmental needs

I am tired of privileged people saying there is help out there, as an excuse not to be bothered express care or concern or basic respect or understanding.

Sometimes the help is not so good, even though it may be a burden on the taxpayer.

Sometimes excessive Scientism and Manager OCD can get in the way of dealing with human beings.

Eg.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-02-20/over-policing-residential-care-children-fast-tracking-criminals/106352902

I saw a little of this from the perspective of a 6-8 year old when I was in the orphanages. It is probably much much worse now with the tendency to throw cops around. Yes I have sympathy for hardworking well intentioned good cops. Was with some of their family yesterday, but .... excessive force is apparent a lot.

I am still grateful my parents came for me and did their best to get me and later 2 of my siblings out of so called "care". Still being silenced a lot in many circumstances, including to the point where my husband of 16 years didnt even know the ages I had been in care, has significant consequences. I am grateful for my voice on the forums.

"Thriving Kids" is a cute name, but I am so old and tired, I no longer am impressed by marketing.

Just alerting Sane, to keep these issues on their radar.

Hi @Dimity I do not mind being tagged in this thread. I do not have any personal experience of being in residential care, so cannot comment from a LE perspective.

Although I support advocacy in these areas, and I also support LE perspectives being actually listened to, in these areas.

Unfortunately, I am not currently in the "headspace" to discuss further, sorry.
