Tough being the dad

Tough being the dad

(Potential trigger)

Hi all,

I haven't been around much, as life/work has been busy.

But today is going to be a hard one.

We have to place one of our oldest most gentle family pets to rest today.

Her final resting place has been set amd prepared, but the 3 hour wait before we attend the vets to help her cross the rainbow bridge is going to be hard. Myself and my teenage daughter always insist on being present when the time comes.

As many times as we have had to do this ( I am a good believer that kids should always grow up with pets, an lots of them), it never gets any easier. But I suppose that is a good thing because I understand that the emotions I feel now, are natural and normal, in a way, I am glad they have come back to visit for a while, grief is something that can keep us all grounded, despite things like depression amd anxiety being the ever present black dog.

Thanks for being there everyone.

Hi there ,

I just joined this group a few minutes ago and immediately saw your post .

I've been in your situation a few times and know how difficult and sad it is for you and your daughter.

Please take a pic of your pet , it will be a lovely memory maybe not know but in the future .

Thinking of you x

Thanks for the kind word, my wife has spent the last day going over all of our photos we have of her and the rest of the pets. This never gets easier, but I wouldn't have it any other way. The grief we are feeling at the moment really shows how much our pets are loved.

Hey @jrn,

How are you today? I hear how hard yesterday was for you. Please know you are not alone.

May you have comfort in knowing your beloved pet has crossed that rainbow bridge to be forever in comfort.

@TESSIE1 , welcome to the forums and thank you for your supportive post. It was very heartfelt.

I have also lost 2 beloved pets in the past. The grief is real.

Sending you both peace and comfort today.
