When you apologize for your behavior, do you actually understand what your apologizing for, and why you have to apologize for it? Do you understand what the people your apologizing to are upset about?
Or are you just apologizing to please them, without really understanding what their angry about?
I can relate to your plight, somewhat. I used to be involved with a group that was always unkind/disrespectful to me, because I'd inadvertantly harmed their reputations years earlier. I tried like crazy to patch things up and restore my standing with them, but they only ever seemed to get colder and meaner towards me.
Drove me up the damn wall, I can tell you, trying to figure out how to dig myself out of that mess. I still wonder if there was any way I could've done so, or whether they were just determined to make me suffer, no matter what.
I never understood them. Never understood what they were so uptight about. Never understood what they wanted.
I don't know if it's even possible to meaningfully interact with people you can't understand.
