I'm struggling and alone

I'm struggling and alone

Hi everyone I'm new here and I don't feel so good. I'm struggling with PTSD and borderline personality disorder and I am on edge. I have persistent anxiety that never switches off. I have body image problems , health anxiety and also past traumas have been getting to me a lot. I do online work so I sit at home all day whilst my husband works from 4:30am to 3pm and I'm at home with our two cats. Some days I just feel like no one cares about me and that the world would be better without me.

Trigger warning SA.

Content/trigger warning
I was sexually assaulted as a kid and in return now have a lot of health issues because of it. I'm struggling with no where to go.

Hey @Sylvia4 ,

Welcome to the forums. We are glad you've taken the time to reach out and share a little about yourself and what you are going through at the moment.

I'm sorry to hear that you have persistent anxiety and you feel you are never able to switch off. Despite working from home, do you have time to go for breaks in between e.g. go for a short ten min walk outside for fresh air or something?

Are there things you particularly enjoy doing?

Hi @Sylvia4

I can hear how heavy this all feels, and I am so sorry you are going through this while feeling so alone. It makes so much sense that your past traumas and current isolation are making things feel overwhelming. Please know that your life has deep value, and there are people who want to support you through these 'on edge' moments.

Since you mentioned you're at home alone quite a bit, there are many wonderful services you can reach out to (like how you have come on here for support, which I am so proud of you for using!).

Services:

Since you also mentioned experiencing health anxiety and physical issues resulting from your trauma, you can also contact www.healthdirect.gov.au to speak with a registered nurse. This can sometimes help ground the health anxiety by getting a professional medical perspective 24/7, although I still highly recommend speaking with a GP about these concerns.

I'm sending you a lot of strength today. We are here for you 💚

Re: I'm struggling and alone

Hi @Sylvia4

I feel the same here as someone who deal with a lot of trauma and in SA all by myself. It is very isolating in SA, and I struggle to hold onto my first graduate job.

The climate is much hotter and dryer than where I was originally from and I can’t really go out much. Much of my job is interacting with people and I feel like a fraud and constantly doubt myself and my ability to earn an income. (Imposter syndrome and anxiety/depression isn’t a good mix)

I hope the two cats has given you some comfort and I do find perhaps short walks after dinner is helpful in lifting my mood? I get sick of facing the screen all day and the short walks can serve as a digital detox.

Kind regards,
