Friday Coffee and Chat -- 30th January 2026

Hey @Oaktree , the kiddos have been back at school since Tuesday. The youngest starts school next week sometime. I don't know how she's going to manage... she's not one to follow rules or keep her mouth closed!

Are you missing the kiddos or glad for the respite?

I am doing very well. I expect to hear about my job interview next week. I won’t mind what happens either way but the company I applied to actually live by their values so it would be a great place to work

I participated in a research study today. Follow up next week via zoom

I get reimbursed $100 gift cards for my time and travel. The bus trip was 3 600ml bottles of water and a bahn mi, so not sure how in front I'll end up

As if @Oaktree ! The kids are still in my pocket! They are at my house now. One is using my ipad playing Minecraft (only my ipad has it), and the other was typing something. I told them to leave me alone, but they are just around...

It's the weekend, so weekends, the eldest is allowed to stay at my place.

So long story short, I don't miss them!

As for your job interview outcome, it's great to hear your mindset about it. Let's wait and see 🙂

It warmed up today and it’s going to be quite hot for a few days. 37 Sunday and Monday. Cooling down again on Tuesday. We have the aircon on at the moment while the sun powers the solar panels

I have no idea what to have for dinner tonight. Hubby bought some sourdough bread so may make some savoury french toast or something.

It'll be cooler here on my side over the next few days. Only 20 and 21 which is a reprieve from the heat! Even today was 31 degrees!

And @Shaz51 , you've got rain? Does that mean it'll only be a lot more humid later? It's so so so dry here in Melb. The grass is dead everywhere. It's just all yellow. When I was flying back into Vic after my holiday, I could see how dry it was. Usually, it's lush and green, but this time, it was all yellow and everything looked so dry.

Such harsh weather.
