Hi @Blackcloud I've had a hard few days, I've been dealing with a trauma trigger. How have you been?

Re: Coffee and Chat -- Wednesday 28th January 2026

@AlwaysMyself I couldn't be bothered microwaving a meal yesterday either. I just munched on cereal, fruit, dried fruit, nuts and chocolate throughout the day. Microwaving food can be overwhelming if you're very low on spoons.

I always have to do this huge "clean for the cleaner" in a panic the day before the cleaner comes. I will literally be surrounded with rubbish and clutter everywhere that has to be thrown out/put away. I'm currently waiting on the NDIS to sort out a new cleaner so I'm trying to remember to do the "clean for the cleaner" even without the cleaner actually coming so the clutter doesn't get too extreme.

@Blackcloud when I'm low on spoons I do a 5 minute clean a day. It can make quite a difference to just get 5 minutes done every day. One thing the NDIS does do well is the free cleaning service; I've been very happy with all my cleaners.

When I was overseas, we had our own cleaner and cook. Wow... what a difference it made! Each day, they'd come, do the floors, bathrooms, bedrooms and the kitchen - best thing ever @Shaz51

Yes! I wish I could afford it here and it was a priority for me @Shaz51 Just to come home to a clean house each day would be amazing!

Re: Coffee and Chat -- Wednesday 28th January 2026

@Ruby26 so nice to hear someone else understand the "too tired to microwave food" thing!! Many people dont understand it (or those around me at least) because its "just 30 sec to put it in" and again to take it out. But it feels soo much more and the inbetween 10min.

I also very much know the pre-cleaner tidy up too!! It feels like a relief for me when my cleaners days a day or more before that she needs to cancel -- relief because i dont have to do the tidy up. But if its more than just 1 week i feel it more because then my kitchen is dirty and my dishes piling up, etc. So i have to do that myself which takes my energy so then i dont tidy up and it just builds up until theyre back. 😅 so the pre-cleaner tidy up is still a good thing, as you say!

Hi @Ruby26 ! Do you mind sharing your experiences with having a NDIS cleaner come to your home to clean? Do you choose the tasks they do or do they come with like a checklist of things that they need to complete? Do they bring their own equipment or do you provide it for them?

What happened with the previous cleaner and why do you need to change to a different person?

I am in the process of applying for a job as a NDIS cleaner and would like to know more about the processes involved with working at a home.
