UPDATE: SANE SERVICES

UPDATE: SANE SERVICES

Happy New Year Forumites!

As we head into 2026, we wanted to start by saying thank you — for being here, for supporting one another, and for helping make this community such a meaningful place for people to connect.

Late last year, we shared an important update about the future of SANE services and how we’re building a more connected, flexible way to support the community. If you missed it, you can catch up on that update here.

This post is about the next step in that journey — and what you might start to notice here in the Forums.

Alongside the launch of our new-look RecoveryClub program this month, we’re moving to a more connected way of working across SANE’s services. Our support staff will now share their time across:

  • SANE’s community Forums
  • Our service enquiries line and webchat, and
  • RecoveryClub 6-month program.

This change will allow us to work better as one team and offer you a more connected support experience across SANE.

What this means for the Forums community:

Our moderation team is expanding

Everyone across SANE Services will now help look after the Forums, so while you’ll still see familiar names, you’ll also see new moderators popping up. We know this can feel different at first. Please know they’re all part of the SANE team and are here for the same reason – to support you and keep this community space safe.

Jynx has started this thread to welcome the new moderators – so head over and give them a warm SANE community welcome.

You’ll interact with the same support people, across different spaces

The same people who support you here in the Forums will be supporting you through SANE Services and vice versa. Whether you’re posting in the Forums or reaching out in another way, you’ll be connecting with the same caring support staff.

Your voice matters

These changes are part of a bigger shift in how we improve SANE services, and community voices are central to helping guide our work. In 2026, we’ll be creating more opportunities for you to be involved, including:

  • open discussion threads about what you’d like to see more (or less) of in the Forums
  • co-design activities
  • reviewing and shaping our Community Guidelines.

We’d love to hear from you in this community thread that was started a few days ago:

https://saneforums.org/t5/Something-s-not-right/would-sane-consider-these-changes-to-the-forums/td-p/1797732/page/3

We’re especially keen to hear:

  • What’s been helpful for you in the Forums?
  • Is there anything you’d like to see more (or less) of in 2026?
  • Are there topics, features, or supports you think would make this community even better? Whether it’s ideas for new discussion spaces, community events or activities, feedback on usability or features, or suggestions for improving safety and connection — we’d love to hear from you!

Thanks again for being part of this community. We’re really glad you’re here!

Re: UPDATE: SANE SERVICES

@tyme - just wondering if my post got lost as your language in your most recent post felt like a "closing" to me.

With the team expanding and further integration of staff does that mean we will have a greater number of PSW's on shorter shifts/less forum time?

Re: UPDATE: SANE SERVICES

Hey @avant-garde ,

Thank you for reaching out and clarifying. Good to see you here.

As for your question, I really don't have an answer yet. Rosters etc are still a work in progress.

I hear your concerns though and want to thank you for raising them. Please continue to share any feedback that you have which can hopefully help shape any future changes.

Also, I should apologise that my recent post sounded 'closed'. I think I've been away 5 weeks and still catching up! I have to say though, I'm so glad to be back here 🙂 Missed you all.

Re: UPDATE: SANE SERVICES

@tyme

I've been a bit scared to post... I put in a complaint this morning because my posts have repeatedly disappeared to "editing" with no follow up with the first and 12 hours with the second to have no edits needed anyway...

I don't like it and it makes me really distressed

It had me wondering what the deal is with mods and the emails, like, what happens when a post gets marked for guideline breach and what is the timeframe for responses as to why.

Re: UPDATE: SANE SERVICES

Hrmm... Thank you for putting in the feedback and complaint. I'll look into it. Sorry this is so distressing for you.

Do you know whether the posts have disappeared because of moderator actions or whether it is a tech issue? @avant-garde

Once again, I'm so so sorry this is so distressing for you at this time.

Re: UPDATE: SANE SERVICES

@tyme

The first I figured tech, the second I'm not so sure.

Both have appeared in editing

I provided links to both in the form

I figured if it was tech others might be experiencing it too

Re: UPDATE: SANE SERVICES

Thank you for letting me know. I've emailed you about it and hopefully we come find a resolution! Once again, we are sorry for the stress this has caused @avant-garde

Re: UPDATE: SANE SERVICES

The website doesn't yet reflect the changes

My local MP referred me to the support line, since it's still listed as a crisis line in places. When it hasn't been that for several months

It sounds like the recovery club and guided recovery tabs need updating too

Re: UPDATE: SANE SERVICES

So is the blaring absence of staff how things are going to be from now on?

In response to: Re: UPDATE: SANE SERVICES

Re: UPDATE: SANE SERVICES

With no response @Bow Im guessing so!

In response to: Re: UPDATE: SANE SERVICES

Re: UPDATE: SANE SERVICES

This post was actually 'auto-moderated' @Bow so I do very much apologise that no one has responded to you.

We are definitely in an adjustment period at the moment and it will take time for our new mods to get to the point where they can fly through everything lickety split like the longer-term mods are able to. Like modding a post might take me 30s but a new moderator 5 min. It all adds up!!

Appreciate that change is scary, that you are potentially even feeling some grief over it. That is so valid, and it will probably take time before things feel like they're in rhythm again. We hear you 💜
