Hey @MissGremlin and everyone else... happy new year to everyone. If your 2025 wasn't good then I hope your 2026 is better.

As for me, being old and grumpy, I'll be staying in. I do love fireworks, but the thought of the crowds that will be anywhere they are shown just fills me with a sense of dread and annoyance. So i'll be sitting here, 3D printing a bunch of stuff I've promised people and trying to get the cats to pay attention to me.

and tomorrow most of the shops will be closed so not sure what I’m gonna be doing tomorrow either

Hello @MJG017, from my experience you're definitely not grumpy and age, well that's just a number 😂.

I hear you on the crowds, but yes the fireworks are pretty. The 3d printing sounds like fun. Trying to get the cats to pay attention to you, I'm sure Luna will gladly pay attention to you and maybe even try to attack you in the process 😂.

@Blackcloud nothing wrong with chilling at home. I bet you have some yummy cooked food now 😋.

The shops might be closed tomorrow but there's still parks to go to for a walk ☺️

@MissGremlin you’re right about going to the park for walks hehe. It’s just due to that experience I had over the weekend that lowkey made me hesitant in wanting to go to the cbd especially flinders street since that’s where the park is located nearby. Around the flinders st & Elizabeth st areas, you encounter different types of mentally ill/unstable people or just d*ckheads in general on every other day

I've just written a post for my blog, and I'm thinking about dinner and whether I want anything to eat.

I want to put the New Year' Countdown on in the background and I have a choice of things to do tonight...

Loving the ways different people plan to spend the evening.

I wish there was an anonymous online version of Words With Friends so I could play with you @Shaz1 😍. You would probably beat me - I haven't played in... 15 years? When did it come out? I'm not very good at scrabble lol. But that's OK - I enjoy the social element 😊 and the people I play with don't seem to mind winning 🤣.

I've have settled in for the evening, having gone to the shops to buy treats: Iced Coffee, Coffee-flavour low-sugar ice cream, and ... salt and vinegar sunflower seeds?! No idea how they will taste, but figured they're healthy to nibble on 😅 and if I don't like them I can be 99% sure my dad will eat them if I leave them for him.

Netflix + paint by numbers is my plan. But I do have 2 books I can read if I want.

Past years I have been asleep by 9pm lol, but this year I won't be if I'm drinking iced coffee 😅, so yeah maybe will put on a live stream of the various fireworks coverages around then. I don't really like fireworks (too noisy), but I do like seeing different cities especially from all over the world - but usually that of course has to wait until the following day.

The only midnight fireworks for NYE I have stayed up & out for are when I was in Estonia and also in Russia on holidays. Year 2000 I was awake at home for the New Year.

@Blackcloud New profile pic! I nearly didn't recognise the account lol 🤣. When I visited Melb city last month I noticed the... eccentricity and diversity... of Melbourne CBD. I like it, as long as I feel safe. I didn't venture down to the park area south of the city, as I didn't have much time - only half a day wandering slowly around the CBD. Sounds like I should avoid that area, especially at night, if I go in the future -- stored in back of mind now 😊.

@MJG017 I am 'young and grumpy'? 😅 Actually, I'm not really grumpy - I'm just non-party person lol. 😋 I would love to hear about what you 3D print and what type of printer you use, etc. I have a Bambu P1P but haven't done too many prints - I just do things occasionally that I need or for a specific purpose or gift. I did make the Bambu Lab Switch Dock Piranha Plant -- it's the only very large item I have made. I've printed some card-holders / dividers for boardgames. I plan to print some minis for D&D games for my friend. I don't make 3D model/CAD designs though. I don't have the interest to learn, but maybe in the future if I feel like learning a new useful skill. Do you make 3D models yourself?

@Blackcloud i can completely understand that sweet. I'm sorry that experience has made you hesitant to go into the cbd. It's the same here with the city, there's lots of unsavoury people around.
