Re: advice needed

Hello @potatohead123 you might be able to get an mp3 or something off you tube on hypnosis specifically designed to settle and prepare yourself for surgery. I have used hypnosis in the past for lots of things as the subconscious dictates our conscious thought patterns. By addressing things stored in the deep recesses of my mind I better able face situations I was not feel entirely ready for. Hypnosis has been a game changer for me. Had a friend who had to go into surgery and used said audios which put him in a good frame of mind to be able to face such a life challenge with greater ease. Talk to your psychiatrist or GP if hypnosis is for you as in some instances it could aggravate your diagnosis. It has been contraindicated in some people so its wise to seek advice before attempting to try hypnosis. I have major mental illnesses and can say however it has not been a problem for me. One of the best decisions I made in investing in myself!

Hi @potatohead123

I was booked in for surgery that terrified me 3 years ago. Its a really big thing to be facing, so it makes sense you’re feeling worried. Before surgery, I found simple distractions like audiobooks, podcasts, puzzles or shows/youtube you enjoy can help keep your mind busy. After surgery, just be kind to yourself... fatigue and brain fog are normal, so low energy things like music, more TV, or short check-ins with people can help. Just try to take it one day at a time.

Oh I see @potatohead123.

@MJG017 has come up with some good ideas and is very attuned to what its like having recent surgery. I thought they were all good ideas.

BTW If you want to tag someone type @ and it will bring down a dropdown menu that looks like this picture and you just click on the person you are trying to speak to.
