I'm here for a friendly chat - come one and come all!
Unfortunately I am among those people who will be celebrating Christmas on my own. For reasons I cannot elaborate upon, I am taking care of myself over the Christmas holiday period. Some of you may know that I am a poet. I penned this poem only this morning and I hope you can enjoy it.
I had to explain to the darling young girl it is a time of joy, and a time of sorrow Our merry old friend — Santa — will be coming on the morrow!
“But isn’t every family, everywhere, together on Christmas day?”
“Sadly, my little periwinkle, Together doesn’t always like to play”
“Sadly you say, but isn’t Christmas the Day of Joy?” “
Not every child, everywhere, is blessed with a magical little toy!”
"But you see old friend, when I told her about Together, she cried and she cried!"
“Oh for goodness sake you cruel cruel man, you don’t tell little girls of 7 about those that are earthside, and those that have died!”
"And, pray, why not? You grizzly old grump!"
"For every lie told, you will grow yet another grotesque hump!"
"But did I lie to her? Tell me, I'm all ears, what did I lie to her about?"
There came no reply, only a paltry sign: he flipped me the bird and gave me a mighty pout!
