General chit chat

Hi@Faith-and-Hope, @utopia, @Mazarita

I'm still not very good at 'navagating' this site, maybe that's why I kept trying 'instant' chat sites - they seemed easier. But I like that messages can be checked, that it's not instant feels like some sort of barrier against instant shock I suppose - though I know this is a public Internet site so anyone can use it. I also think, though I hate the term Mental Illness, as I think it takes all the physical out of it, that the people that cause trauma probably suffer from it, so they would have just as much right to use it. But I feel a bit like typing I think, so I thought I might just blurb a little?
I've went away for a few days. I go every month. I visit the center of my Universe 🙂 The one person who has been there with/for me, their whole life & I believe will remain that way until I die 🙂 . . . & quite the large Family they have provided for me to share in 🙂 I go from, it almost seems like another Planet sometimes, my life is very quiet; to the center of my Universe, which includes 5 grand-children ranging in age from almost 2 to, going on 18; then there's the partner, the partners Parents and a large variety of friends 🙂 I often find myself thinking 'alein sound dimension' - there's so much noise on so many different levels! Every single one of them has every gadget known to mankind, and most of those gadgets make noise! And my World is a lot calmer, with a lot less going on - we're usually driving in the car, taking children to school, doing whatever shopping is necessary for the day in time for whatever seemingly endless appointment is due, . . . by the time my alarm goes off to make sure I wake up in time to get tired in time to go to sleep in time 😄 There's no way I could keep that pace up anymore! After a few days I find myself almost running away with my tail between my legs 🙂 But it's the perfect balance really, I do spend a lot of time alone - apart from my 3 furry, four-legged friends; but I am extremely lucky, my bond with my only child is of a strength I can't see breaking; I get a phone call or text every night & welcomed by a dozen open arms and smiling faces every month. I am lucky, I have a good life. Well, I think life is just a word, neither good nor bad. I have good experiences and I am happy 🙂

Re: General chit chat

@Faith-and-Hope, I've heard it's extremely painful to pass kidney stone.

Re: General chit chat

I have never had one @Mazarita, but WH has had a dozen or so .... and yes, I believe they are very painful.

Oh @Faith-and-Hope That's really not good. My Dad had a lot of trouble with those, so much pain. The doctor's told him it's the nearest thing a man gets to the pain of child birth. So I imagine it must be pretty damn painful but with a booby prize at the end,

Re: General chit chat

The kids tease him that he has given birth more times than I have @Spookytookims .... 😏

He has a good sense of humour, (around the mood regulation issues associated with the e.d.) .... but it might also be a spin off from his tightly controlled daily-repeat diet that is contributing to it .... dunno.

The c/s behaviour will be messing with his body chemistry. He is in danger of diabetes and stomach ulcers apparently, so it wouldn't surprise me. It's still hard watching him suffer, whatever the cause, like when he is exercising injured .... :face_with_rolling_eyes:

Waddayagonnado ??

yeah @Faith-and-Hope my dad ended up having to move countries, that's actually how we wound up in Australia. They told him if he stayes where we were he'd likely have them ongoing. They were right. after we moved he didn't have them any more.

yes must be very hard watching him siffer, I know it was sure hard for us with my father because he just was never one to complain and so we knew he must be in so much pain when he was writhing around and moaning... was quite scary actually, especially being a kid at the time. I know my mother felt pretty helpless watching and not being able to do anything until the doctors decided one way or the other if he would pass one or they had to operate. So glad when it all stopped, was such a relief for all of us, of course more so for dad.

Re: General chit chat

That's where I am suffering a degree of compassion fatigue @Spookytookims, as are the kids .... we have watched him jogging (hobbling) on a grossly swollen knee, strapped with an ice pack, with heat rub applied to his leg muscles cos they weren't responding adequately, heat patches on his sore hips, compression pants cos that was supposed to help, in a torrential thunderstorm, cos he couldn't eat the "reward" food assigned to that exercise activity unless he completed the 10km ....., one of the two such sessions in the day ..... interspersed with time in the gym lifting heavy weights with a pulled shoulder muscle strapped .... again, to be able to eat the designated foods .....

Kidney stones become just another trauma amongst the rest of them, without meaning to be uncaring. The kids and I had to learn to switch off within the first couple of years, amidst all his temper tantrums and marshalling across 14 hour days.

Somewhere in there is the husband and father we love, but he's still lost to us at the moment, unfortunately.

Oooo Cooties, I always though that was a symptom of The dreaded Lurgy! 😄

Re: General chit chat

@Former-Member Maybe you should post this on Turtle Island thread, in case others don't know why I So named the episode.

@Faith-and-Hope I can 100% understand the fatigue. It's hard when boundaries keep getting pushed to sustain the same sense of compassion and sympathy. It gets very draining and frustrating to maintain without fatiguing.

Re: General chit chat

Good morning, @Former-Member, and that's cool the info you posted on the lurgy. I like lurgy better than cooties, which sounds like a form of lice to me, lol. Someone was talking about how many of us have been going down with 'the dreaded lurgy' on the forum. There was even speculation that we might be passing it on to each other by computer viruses! Mine's still hanging around, slowly clearing out properly I hope. I want it gone completely by the time my mum and old friend arrive up here on Tuesday week. Haven't seem mum for a year so it's a very special occasion.
