Self care by growing a garden

Self care by growing a garden

A SOS to any green thumbs out there

I have always found gardening to be therapeutic and it has given me great joy. However, after a major crisis with Mr Darcy's health I have not had been able to get back into it. Have other gardeners suffered from a similar hiatus and how have you recovered and got going again?

Darcy

PS have a spot that needs filling any recommendations for a 1m high cool climate white flower plant?

@outlander .... this is what the crocus stamens look like when they are dried out.

Saffron rice is a famous Indian dish you might be familiar with.

Re: Self care by growing a garden

I've got saffron growing too. The bulbs are due for dividing and transplanting, because they're not doing as well as they used to.

You only get three stamens of saffron per flower, and they have to be hand picked, then dried. Part of the expense is the labour involved in getting such a tiny amount.

Went to the two nurseries in town today with the intention of getting a tree but none caught my eye - ended up getting a buddleia to fill in a spot along a hedge row and some carpet roses for a garden bed at the front of the house that at present is an eyesore.
