Self care by growing a garden

Self care by growing a garden

A SOS to any green thumbs out there

I have always found gardening to be therapeutic and it has given me great joy. However, after a major crisis with Mr Darcy's health I have not had been able to get back into it. Have other gardeners suffered from a similar hiatus and how have you recovered and got going again?

Darcy

PS have a spot that needs filling any recommendations for a 1m high cool climate white flower plant?

My Red-Flowering Gum (native to SW WA), that I planted as a tiny tubestock over 10 years ago - it's now 4 metres high. Won't get much bigger, it's a small tree.

Your natives look lovely @Adge
Some areas I sprayed are dying off well. Hoping to get a bit more done. The mower man is on holiday and I ended up letting the cattle in the orchard to tackle the grass. The fruit trees I have there are struggling and they don't eat the berries which are my focus. I only let them in during the day.

Been a bit dry & windy in my neck of the woods and I cleared a spot bit did not plant two yellow daisies I bought but did throw some cornflower seeds about. The lawn seems to be growing so fast. Mower man has been on holiday, hopefully will come this week.

Helloooo green thumbs

Keen to get out with the wipper snipper and ckear the fence line @Former-Member.

Have quite a bit of work to do around our yard, has been too wet since I finished uni though. Next week is looking promising.

Lantana doing well, I will have to get on to that before council starts hassling me about it. So much to do it is hard to know where to start.

Evening all..

Still attempting to reboot my neglected veg garden. I put some pumpkin seeds in yesterday. Planted way too close, but Ill do the Chinese thing of picking the young shoots of any surplus ones to use as a green veg, and leave two or three to grow out into full sized vines.

Bought a pot of basil which has been divided into five clumps and planted into a bigger pot. I'm trying out a few edibles in pots this year, including some strawberries and herbs.

I've got some sunflower, cosmos and echinacea seeds soaking to hopefully pre-sprout them before putting into the garden, so that they've got a tiny head start.

Re: Self care by growing a garden

Yes there's been some carnage here too @Former-Member

My garden service people came on Tuesday, for the first time in over 4 months. They did a lot of whipper-snippering.

They also removed a big dead bottlebrush branch, which had fallen over the fence (from the neighbour's yard), & was lying on my clothesline. It was too heavy & big for me to remove.

Plus pruned spiny branches off the canary island date palm.

Pot plants not faring well, as I'm home too late too tired & don't water them.
