Self care by growing a garden

Self care by growing a garden

A SOS to any green thumbs out there

I have always found gardening to be therapeutic and it has given me great joy. However, after a major crisis with Mr Darcy's health I have not had been able to get back into it. Have other gardeners suffered from a similar hiatus and how have you recovered and got going again?

Darcy

PS have a spot that needs filling any recommendations for a 1m high cool climate white flower plant?

Crassula Ovata (Ogre Ears) is a type of Jade plant.

Re: Self care by growing a garden

@Adge, I collected a couple of pots from Mum's collection last time we were there that were labled "Crassula ovata "Gollum"... thinking they could be interesting.
Just looked it up online, guess what? It's the Ogre's Ears plant. 😛
Am not sure though that it's what is actually growing in the pots. The form looks all wrong, but they've been neglected for so long it's hard to be sure. Will have to wait and see.

Thanks @Former-Member

Yes that will be interesting @Smc Yes, apparently they named a Crassula Golum, after Lord of the Rings.

Supposed to be much the same as Ogre Ears, I think.

They're all the same species of Crassula (apparently) - lots of variation...

Re: Self care by growing a garden

You may be right @Smc

In any case, it's Giving the Finger - which is why someone (Funny Quotes) said it's their "Spirit Plant"....

I have detailed recollections of the entire expanse of the Private Golf Course – Where I was the sole Gardener (Bush Care Officer they called it).

My recollections are clearly about “feeling connected with nature”, & the beauty of the place.

I felt that more strongly there than almost anywhere else.

I established many of the Gardens there myself, & maintained the existing gardens - covering 1000's of square metres.

The Golf course bordered on a large nature reserve - I did large amounts of revegetation & natural (native) plantings, on the perimeter.

Connection with nature & beauty now lost – totally disconnected.

There is also a status & wealth aspect to it.

Many people would buy multi-million $$ houses, on the perimeter of that Golf Course – just to have a view of it from their house, & to be able to walk through the grounds.

I know that, because they told me they did.

My small Block (& Garden) is dwarfed in comparison with that....
