Hi @Blackcloud Thanks for replying. I'm sorry if I've tried to box you into a personality type. I can understand why that would be annoying. I'm definitely not saying that you and my partner are alike. How long have you been on the forum for? Have you been able to make connections on here? I find these people very caring and supportive. I hope your day is going okay! 💛

@heartathome oh no, I didn't see it like that at all!!

I was just mainly referring to other people in this world that have seen me in real life and I've been having a feeling that their impression of me is someone that's not approachable or something.

All neurodivergent people are totally different and unique in their ways ❤️

I've been a member on here for 2 years, but I didn't start becoming more active on here until September last year. And yes I've been able to connect with a few users throughout my time on here, which is great 😊 and I'm okay

I'm glad I didn't annoy you @Blackcloud I love diversity. I am on an AOD committee who has just accepted neurodivergent people into their program. The committee had something to do with the change that I'm really proud of. I used to get that unapproachable look from people all the time but to be honest, I probably was!! I never smiled at anyone. 26 years of therapy and medication have helped. 😉I'm glad you've found some connections on here! 💛

That’s good to hear about what you’re doing and the things that have helped you overcome your past struggles! 😊 @heartathome

I guess the only thing I can do at the moment to “go about life” (I can’t think of a better way to say it) is to continue receiving support with a support worker, including going to events together (with a support worker and I). And if I am comfortable enough to attend an event where there’s gonna be other NDIS participants attending then it’s better that I bring a support worker with me to that specific event as well, rather than trying to attend there by myself.

I’ve actually found two Christmas related events that this particular organisation (the organisation is NDIS-affiliated and catered towards adults on the spectrum) is organising for next month and I think I might like to go to those events, if I’m able to get a support worker to take me there and drive me back home after.

@Jynx Hello friend. How are you? I too have found the forums and SANE a real life saver. It’s a place where people care and understand.

Re: Sunday Coffee and Chat -- 23rd November 2025

@heartathome Yes I’ve done it and still doing it plus can be on forums too. 🙂 Recovery Club is excellent. I’m on it every evening at 6:30 and do some of the day zooms too.

@lonemushroom How are you? Gee I can’t handle the heat at all. Not even in lower temperatures. I really hope you have decent air conditioning.

It warmed up in Melbourne in the mid 20’s and I have the air conditioner on. Went outside briefly and was very dizzy from the heat.

To 'Go about life' is a good way of putting it @Blackcloud . I could say that when people ask me what I've been doing, when I haven't seen them for a while! I usually just say 'Life'. I go out as much as I can to combat my loneliness. Just little things like having a coffee downtown. I prefer to go out with company but love coming home to my own little sanctuary. My son is on the NDIS and has a support worker too. He doesn't socialize with anyone, apart from her. He's had her for about four years now. Do you get the same support workers or different ones? Good on you for going to different events and mixing with other NDIS participants. That is so good! I wish my son would reach out a little bit more but he's a grown man and I need to let him go about life! 💛
