Never too late

Never too late

My new psychologist asked me if I knew what being neurodiverse meant. I rolled my eyes and essentially explained I didn’t have a clue - in so many words. Not because I’m ignorant of the term but rather because social media and even good documentaries appear to complicate any obvious definition.

Given where I am at and the generation I belong to, every discussion and all popular terminology surrounding any mental health condition induces in me embedded anxiety loops and so I tend not to seek explanations of terminology for fear of finding out information that makes me feel worse rather than better. I did not grow up in an environment whereby I needed to diagnose myself (which seems to be the contemporary cultural practice of many) nor have a family member diagnose my mental health position. Though, I was on the pointy end of a lot of rather painful name calling…

I am seeing my psychologist regularly enough to work through any issues I may have.

But I just wanted to write something here in recognition of my being a person who for most of her life has had to live with being deeply misunderstood, exploited, ridiculed and/or rejected as a normal pattern and standard of her existence and someone who has decided it is never too late to speak up or to seek help.

@Flutterbug9 Aww, it sounds like they really do care about them as living /conscious creatures! That's so important hey. Sounds like she has 'good cat energy' if the kitties are letting her give em head pats after just one day. I think I've read that it can take them a few weeks to settle into new environments, so it sounds like she does what she can to ease the process and ensure they feel safe and secure.

Ugh I suck at packing, I feel you! I always pack way too many spare things. As though I'm gonna change my underwear twice a day or something 🤣

Good luck with it 😁💜
