Movember and trans health

Movember and trans health

What started in 2003 as a few mates growing a moustache to raise money for men's health, Movember has become an international phenomenon that raises money and promotes discussions about men's general health and mental health.

AFAB masc health can fall under the men's health banner, also AMAB can still have some male related health issues. I have noted there isnt much information for health issues related to the specific health issues facing trans-masc individuals or amab trans or how women can still experience masc related health problems.

Im not sure if im making sense. But I often see how trans have to be excluded from gender specific spaces assigned with their gender because of sex at birth or how trans are often ostracised in society and being made to very mentally ill because of gender dysphoria or are predators or other evil things.

I guess I wanted to make an inclusive space and celebrate the pros about being trans masc and having a space open for everyone to be able to open up about health issues facing them. This place is here for support and awareness. And to celebrate our similarities, not differences, and have a place for people with any gender identity to celebrate their masculinity and or talk about ways we can be trans inclusive in health rather than exclusive of trans individuals.

Anyways, this movember I grow a moustache to make a stand with those whose gender identity might not align with the sex at birth, and hope they know arent alone, and together we can make a stand and a difference.

Re: Movember and trans health

I once asked a trans-masc friend if he, and trans men in general, got man flu

He said he could hapily write a 50,000 word thesis. But he said he suspected that I just wanted the basics. Which is apparently simplified to "It depends if you're on testosterone"

Well, being a woman, I can't grow a moustache, but I am in support of Movember.

Have you seen I have a secret stash??? It's funny as!

Since beards are almost the standard in the 2020s, I think Movember have broadened the ways to participate

When they began, most folk were clean shaven

Thank you @The-red-centaur for creating this inclusive space and celebrate the pros about being trans masc. As someone who is somewhere in the middle of being genderqueer, on hormones and without surgery I straddle a few of these areas.

@TeaPositive

Ive been on hormones 7 years.

I dont want surgery and sometimes don't feel trans enough tbh because of that. But I am happy with my transition and im learning to love myself. I have come to a point of acceptance in my gender and I no longer care what the outside community thinks about my transition, its my journey and it makes me happy so they can F off with their opinions.

I will happily wear moustache this month, even if I go out in a dress. I am proud of who I am, and wish other can experience the joys in freedom of self expression.
