Incident

Incident

Without going into details my son and I were the first responders at a scene recently. [edited by moderator]

I have been interviewed by police, spoke to by other personnel's but because it was a busy day have had very little support and I was actively involved with the patient (now Dec'd) I have called lifeline and am going to an urgent care clinic as I can't sleep. [edited by moderator]

My son had a Dr via his school and is safe at Dads so he can do a separate statement.

I am frustrated as I have been filmed tendering so had to reassure public about his passing. Which is extremely upsetting.

Who the hell is suppose to help me I think I need a lawyer.[edited by moderator]

I feel deserted and angry.

My Gp today has provid me some medicine for sleep and arranging the Trauma Pshyc.

Re: Incident

hey @Gnat that sounds really intense and overwhelming! there was barely any time for you to process the incident in-between those interviews and conversations.

i'm so glad you've reached out to lifeline, GP and urgent care for support - talking to a trauma psych sounds like it would be really helpful in working through those heavy feelings.

given what you've experienced, it absolutely makes sense you'd feel this way, and i'm so sorry that it's been rough. we're here for you, sending you gentle hugs 💙

p.s. i'm going to send a quick email soon just to explain some edits i've made to your post 😊

Re: Incident

@Gnat, sorry about what you have experienced recently.

I would really like to thank-you for your service as a first responder, it takes such courage and bravery to assist in difficult and sudden circumstances, especially when someone you were trying to help passed away. You did everything you could with what you had to help, so thankyou for everything you did that day. 💛

I know this will weigh heavily on you and rightly so, it’s a lot for you, your brain and your body to experience. I hope you can give yourself the time and rest you need to gently begin to continue moving forward from this.

I’m sorry the rest you need you weren’t able to get in the beginning due to media etc. I hope as media etc quietens down, you can focus on your next steps.

I am sorry you feel you weren’t heard/listened to or cared for in those inital moments post, I hear how hard that was for you.

I am so glad to hear you are referred to a trauma psych and hope they can assist you through the recent event. We are definitely happy to chat here whenever. You are not alone 💜
