Something’s not right

just when i thought things were on the up... or at least stable.. then BAM!!

just when i thought things were on the up... or at least stable.. then BAM!!

Hey Sane...

Posting here to put things down on 'paper' and to hopefully get a different perspective. I've been stuck in my head lately, and also in a painful body that's causing frustration and irritability, and also a huge rollercoaster of thoughts!

I was going along really well with mental health - it's been about 8 weeks of adjusting to new medication and the highs and lows that have come with that - but I was starting to see positives and future possibilities and then what seems like out of nowhere ..BAM..I've had a massive spike 😞

I am even embarrassed to book another appointment with my regular psychologist because last time they saw me (only about 2 weeks ago) things were in a good place. I am booked in to see them again next week, but I feel so much shame that the trajectory hasn't continued and it feels like I've taken 100 steps backwards. I am aware enough to intellectually know that this is OK, but I can't get myself to actually *feel* like this is ok.

Has anyone else experienced similar? How do I adjust and crawl through the mess? It feel like it's been such a long time (years and years) of one thing (emotional or physical setback) after the other. I wonder if I will ever not be on such a rollercoaster.

It's really tiring!!

@blue_wren I'm sorry you're going through a hard time again. Have you heard back from Sane about getting some more ongoing support from them?

Hiya,

I haven't reached out again. I guess I'm not sure how to / sitting in the "i should be able to do it myself" space. But I do think I need some external support.

I would also like to look into some AOD support - is this something SANE offers? I'm not in a financial position to add this to my current regime of psychologist and counsellor that I pay for privately, and they aren't addressing this part of my journey. AA is not a space that I resonate with - I already have a very loud critic/shame voice and I didn't find the program very supportive and actually felt like it was keeping me in a negative space rather, along with that I found the groups to be cliquey, so it's not something I want to explore again.

Is anyone able to offer some alternative support? I'm aware of the SMART recovery, but again haven't found a group / session that feels right for me.
