DID diagnosis and recovery
Hi Folks,
I’m feeling pretty overwhelmed and stuck right now. I’ve been struggling with accepting my DID diagnosis and, honestly, just with life in general. One of the hardest parts is feeling like I don’t know anyone else who experiences it the way I do. I don’t really relate to what I see shared online- my experience is mostly internal, with a lot of time loss, and it’s been really confusing.
I’ve been in therapy for almost seven years, and I’m still not sure I’ve ever said my diagnosis out loud. Everything feels like it’s getting more out of control, and I’m scared because I don’t know how to accept it- or why I can’t. I want to do the work, but I feel stuck.
I’d really love to hear from others who’ve been in this place- people who struggled with accepting their diagnosis, or who felt like they couldn’t move forward in treatment. I feel like I’m constantly trying to ground myself just to shut things down, but it’s not working and may even be making things worse.
I guess I’m just asking: how do you cope? How do you do this in a way that works better? Does any of the resonate.
