New “alternative” therapies

New “alternative” therapies

Hi everyone,

New member here.

This post I’m putting up is in regards to all the ads I keep seeing about the new legal doctor prescribed alternative therapies I keep seeing. I’m sure we all know what “alternative” mean.

When I was younger and trying “alternative” therapy I used to get really paranoid and uncomfortable while using said therapy.

I do get social anxiety and sometimes agoraphobia where I just don’t want to leave my home or as the new folk call it my safe space.

I’d like to try out some of these new therapies but am worried it will just make me even more anxious than I already get.

Have they started developing versions of it that only treat the anxiety act and not cause any other worse symptoms? I’m always games to try anything that may help but no one wants to exacerbate the anxiety they already carry.

I dont want to get too affected by it either to the point I can’t function properly.

if anyone has experience in this field please reply as I’d like to get the right treatment as quickly as possible.

Hi @AlbyMangles2025

A warm welcome 🌞 and thanks for sharing your experiences with the community!

Sounds like it's difficult to know whether the new alternative therapies you're seeing advertised would be helpful or could make things worse. Getting more information from others who have tried these sounds like a wise approach🦉🌾!

I'm sure that the community will have some insights to share with you soon!

Take care

Best thing you can do is speak to an accredited doctor about it. You can tell them your concerns and what you’re trying to achieve and they’ll advise on what they have that might help.

Yes there are definitely medical grade variants that are designed for different things like sleep or anxiety, but they don’t work for everyone. They make my anxiety and paranoia especially bad. However for my friends and partner they literally allow them to function on a day to day basis.

I personally won’t touch it again and am happy with my regular medication but I can see the huge benefits for other people so I’d never say it’s a bad thing.
