All Things Sport...

All Things Sport...

There are many threads dedicated to sharing experiences - good times and not so good - so I thought I would start a thread for those on here who love their sport. For me - and I suspect for some others - sport is a good distraction as it often blocks out the more negative emotions and helps to avoid triggers that many other things in 'life' so often seem to do.

This thread can also be a place where like-minded (and not so like-minded people @utopia @Former-Member @Zoe7 lol) can 'discuss/debate' their respective competitions in their preferred sport(s).

For those that are definitely NOT into sport @Phoenix_Rising for example - avoid this thread at all costs - whoops just tagged you in..........hahaha!!!!!

Re: All Things Sport...

@Former-Member I am afraid to say that I have always had a soft spot for the Tigers and consider them my 'second' team - so whilst I love you a lot the Swannies will have to come third.

Well @Zoe7 ... Thanks to your distinct lack of support, my Swans appear to be 'shot ducks' at half time! 😈😜

How old are you Zoe? Or maybe a more diplomatic question may be 'how old did you think I was?' I suspect our keeper of birthday secrets @Shaz51 could have shed some light on this conversation. 😀

I'm 48 @Former-Member and I honestly thought you were about my age - isn't it funny that we have no idea really through the screen.

haha I really want to support the Swannies for you Hon - just cannot force myself to do that tonight - but I will be back on board next week

Swans play Giants in the local derby next week @Zoe7 . But ... gulp 😁 ... Swans play Lions the week after!

You are about the age I though you'd be Zoe. But you are right, its very much guesswork from behind a computer screen.

Just hope Swans can come back a bit tonight and make a decent game of it.

Can we have a party for you next month @Former-Member 60 is a big one and I would love to throw you a forum party

The way the Giants played today you should beat them then we can watch as you thrash us the week later - think my baby boys have lost their way a bit.

Low key and me hovering in the background is more my scene than a big-deal high profile party. @Zoe7 @Shaz51

Ha ha .. Poor little Holly is alongside me wrapped up in her blanky and snoring. Just woke her up and she is not impressed. 😀🐶 I just realised that, in dog years, Holly is almost exactly the same age as me this year.

Low key and hiding in the background it is then Hon - that is my speed for parties too @Former-Member We can celebrate on the birthday thread if you like rather than make a special thread for you - which I would love to do but I respect your wishes

Re: All Things Sport...

Hey @Boonana ... do you compete in rhythmic or artistic gymnastics? I had a nephew who was a very good little gymnast in his teens, but he gave it up as soon as he got a little older and took up motor bikes instead. Pity because he had great potential.

So you're a Tassie girl ... I have travelled there a number of times, and love it. I'm from NSW, but @Zoe7 is a fellow Taswegian. Thats what you're called isnt it? Being selected to compete in QLD is quite an achievement ... so well done! You are right to be excited.

I qualified to represent my school, district and then state in athletics while at school. But I was always a little below the top athletes who all seemed to have coaches, starting blocks, expensive shoes and everything else. I'd just rock up each year and run, enjoy it and then forgotten. The really good ones trained all year long, had coaches and knew how to use starting blocks. Something I never even tried. I did okay though, and it was always a thrill to represent at those levels. I used to be pretty star struck though when it came to the really good athletes. I competed against some, who later went on to represent Australia in Commonwealth and Olympic games. So that was a nice feeling as well. Mind you, no matter how much coaching and dedication, I was never going to be that good. But I enjoyed it, as it was something I was good at. Same with squash ... I was always good at that too, and have won a number of Championships around the state of NSW. You can still see my name up on Championship boards. My claim to notoriety I guess. Ha ha 🤣 But I have never had the drive or ambition to be better, relying purely on natural ability, and happy to leave it at that. Basically just lazy I guess. As a competitive gymnast you certainly would not be lazy. So ... whenever you are competing in QLD ... I wish you every success. I hope you achieve what you set out to do.

Yes @Zoe7 it was lovely having a chat last night. Helped me get over the big Swannies loss .... Awww ... 😢 But ... the Raiders play this afternoon at 3pm. They should beat the Bronco's. Least ways .. I hope so.
