All Things Sport...

All Things Sport...

There are many threads dedicated to sharing experiences - good times and not so good - so I thought I would start a thread for those on here who love their sport. For me - and I suspect for some others - sport is a good distraction as it often blocks out the more negative emotions and helps to avoid triggers that many other things in 'life' so often seem to do.

This thread can also be a place where like-minded (and not so like-minded people @utopia @Former-Member @Zoe7 lol) can 'discuss/debate' their respective competitions in their preferred sport(s).

For those that are definitely NOT into sport @Phoenix_Rising for example - avoid this thread at all costs - whoops just tagged you in..........hahaha!!!!!

@Shaz51 @MDT @Former-Member @frog @BlueBay @soul and all other sports nuts...

It is a big night of sport yet again - soccer, NRL, AFL and cricket. My plan is to watch the Eels match while flicking over to the AFL for updates then watch the Socceroos take on Denmark. If I am still awake after that game I might watch a little of the cricket - but after their last game it could be all over by that time lol

Tonight could be a bad night all around for me - if the Eels, Socceroos and Australia all lose (which is entirely possible) I may not even bother getting up tomorrow lol At least the West Coast - Essendon game tonight I do not necessarily have a preference as to who wins...probably a good thing because the team I pick may actually be the one to lose so I will keep my thoughts to myself on that one for all those WC and Bombers supporters out there

Now to organise snacks....

Re: All Things Sport...

Hi @Zoe7. Yep I'll be doing pretty much the same as you I think. The cricket doesnt start until about 11pm, so the NRL and AFL will be over by then. The soccer I think starts around 10pm?

Oh yes, wasnt it a shame for the Aussie cricketers on Tuesday? Still the Pommies did very well, and good on them. You have to remember that we are missing out 2 best ODI batsmen (Smith and Warner) and our 3 best ODI bowlers (Stark, Hazelwood and Cummins). Hardly surprising we are lagging behind so badly.

I agree with you about Essendon vs West Coast - I dont really have a preference either, they are two of my least favoured teams.

Big question - can the Socceroos beat the Danes? Go Aussies ........

What snacks are you organising for the evening Zoe?

Re: All Things Sport...

Carrot sticks of course @Former-Member - they are always my go to snacks lol

I also thought I might make some pancakes to nibble on with some cooked apple sauce -and whipped cream - yum (might not get around to making them - depends on how the Eels game is going lol)

I would like to see WC win for one person and Essendon for someone else - I personally don't care too much - they are not my favourite teams but not at the bottom of the rung either. Who do Sydney play this week? We play GWS - hopefully we can put up a real fight - it is at the Gabba!

Re: All Things Sport...

@Former-Member I got my weeks mixed up - we play the dragons next Thursday night - wondered why I couldn't find the telecast in the tv guide lol - now I will watch more of the WC-Bombers match before the Socceroos - and maybe get those pancakes made for a 'before-game' snack then have my carrots for during the game...

Re: All Things Sport...

Ahh now that makes more sense @Zoe7. I admit I had gone to look up who was playing NRL tonight, but only found AFL. This Sunday we have the 2nd State of Origin, and I think there is a week off for the rest of the teams. Is that right? There is a womens State of Origin tomorrow night I believe.

So yeah, we'll be able to concentrate on the AFL, then the Soccer, then keep an eye on the Cricket once it starts half way through the soccer.

Carrot sticks sounds good. Any celery as well? I like celery sticks with some peanut butter in the crevace bit. And I do love pancakes, with lemon and sugar.

Re: All Things Sport...

Funny you should mention celery @Former-Member I like it with cream cheese yummo - that and carrot sticks is enough for me to nibble on all day

I did see there was a women's state of origin on - will definitely be checking that out also. I think you might be right - pretty sure there is a week off for all teams - silly me got my weeks mixed up - that is what happens when your team is near the bottom of the ladder

So our night now goes - AFL, soccer, cricket - a very full night we have in store lol

Re: All Things Sport...

@Former-Member The Bombers seem to have a good control over this game. WC have not played well at all tonight.

@MDT @frog not long now to the big game - Go Socceroos!!!!
