All Things Sport...

All Things Sport...

There are many threads dedicated to sharing experiences - good times and not so good - so I thought I would start a thread for those on here who love their sport. For me - and I suspect for some others - sport is a good distraction as it often blocks out the more negative emotions and helps to avoid triggers that many other things in 'life' so often seem to do.

This thread can also be a place where like-minded (and not so like-minded people @utopia @Former-Member @Zoe7 lol) can 'discuss/debate' their respective competitions in their preferred sport(s).

For those that are definitely NOT into sport @Phoenix_Rising for example - avoid this thread at all costs - whoops just tagged you in..........hahaha!!!!!

@soul Bales's goal was very impressive - I am disappointed we didn't win but Real Madrid were by far the better team in the end...have to look forward to next year now and of course the world cup coming very soon!

Re: All Things Sport...

Real Madrid are a very professional unit @Zoe7. Nice to see Bale score instead of that other striker who thinks he's bigger than the team 😉

Poor Mo Salah was shattered. Seeing him come down hard on his shoulder made me think of my own injury. I cringed. I don't think Egypt would have advanced very far in the WC because a team needs more than a top striker to win matches but if he is ruled out, they have even less hope.

Re: All Things Sport...

I agree - Salah will be a massive loss if he is ruled out @soul. I haven't chosen a second team yet - I tend to lose a bit of interest if Australia doesn't make it through any further than the group stage - I suppose it depends on who does make it through and then I'll choose another team then if Australia doesn't make it.

So nice that you like the round ball game @Zoe7. Hope you're doing okay. Sometimes we have to find joy where we can.

Will you be watching many of the matches?

Re: All Things Sport...

I will definitely be watching all the Australian matches @soul I try to watch as many of the others as I can but depends on the times they are played. Itend to watch a lot of the England games as well if they are on on convenient times. How about you - are you going to watch many games?

Re: All Things Sport...

I'll probably pick one game each day/night @Zoe7. I do have to at least semi function during the week but can catch up on some rest in the afternoon if need be.

I have the fondest of memories watching the WC matched with my son. I would set the alarm, wake him up and we'd snuggle under doonas with my beloved dog. During halftime, my lad would make us hot Milo. Fortunately, the WC was on during school and uni holidays.

Re: All Things Sport...

There were times that I got up super early to watch the games and then went to work with my Aussie top still on... I actually fell asleep once - good thing it was an office day and I wasn't out working with kids - that was when I did a day a week as a support worker and could adjust my times to see the Kids I was looking after to suit myself @soul

Such a lovely time with your son and such great memories to have

Re: All Things Sport...

I have three football jerseys that I wear now and then @Zoe7.

My son and I don't live together but we still message each other about what matches we will be watching and we do online chats thru Messager during the games. Nice bonding opportunity 🙂

Re: All Things Sport...

That is lovely @soul - so nice to have someone to share the experience with

I have two Aussie jerseys, two Liverpool ones and a Brazilion one that my sister brought me when she was there on holidays. We have friends that are presently living in Colombia where one of them are originally from - so I will be keen to see how they go in the WC.

Wouldn't it be great if we could either beat or draw with France - would give us the best opportunity to go through
