All Things Sport...

All Things Sport...

There are many threads dedicated to sharing experiences - good times and not so good - so I thought I would start a thread for those on here who love their sport. For me - and I suspect for some others - sport is a good distraction as it often blocks out the more negative emotions and helps to avoid triggers that many other things in 'life' so often seem to do.

This thread can also be a place where like-minded (and not so like-minded people @utopia @Former-Member @Zoe7 lol) can 'discuss/debate' their respective competitions in their preferred sport(s).

For those that are definitely NOT into sport @Phoenix_Rising for example - avoid this thread at all costs - whoops just tagged you in..........hahaha!!!!!

Re: All Things Sport...

I too have the program from that last game @WIP The most moving moment of the game was when a wreath was laid in the centre circle after the game. Every single one of the Richmond and Fitzroy teams formed lines each side and none of the supporters left the ground despite Richmond winning by over 100 points. The result didn't matter though - it was very emotional for so many.

I didn't know that happened.
What a beautiful gesture.

@Judi9877 We had another good win today. The team is proving they can whether the storm and then move forward themselves ...things looking good fo a tilt at the title this year - if they can stay fit and keep that intensity up. We need to work on our 3rd quarters though as against some sides it may be too much to overcome if they get a lead on us.

@WIP Looking forward to seeing how your Blues go against Port tomorrow - I think they are in with a chance as Port run hot and cold and anything could happen if your boys play as well as they have shown they can.

@Zoe7 Tomorrow will be a challenge for the boys, but I think they will be up for it.

Eddie Betts has the chance to kick his 300th goal for the blues, which will be exciting - he's one of my favs!

Hi @Zoe7 @WIP @MDT @Eve7 @Scarecrowe Thanks so much for the tag @Zoe7 ! I'd forgotten about this discussion area- so many things going on for me here in Melbourne! I'm very happy that the Brissy boys got up today over GWS- a great game! Onwards and upwards for the boys❤️💛💙🦁!

As for that NRL grand final of 2016 @Eve7 @Zoe7 , I have memories of it but not because of Melbourne Storm losing. More like the fact that the day after that final, I managed to break my right foot and spend nearly 2 weeks in hospital including getting metalwork put in it due to the break being so bad. I was then in a cast and so forth with a cam boot later on for 12 weeks. I managed to finally convince the hospital to let me be free of all boots and other stuff on the Monday of the first week of the Australian Open as my friend and I had tickets to Margaret Court Arena the following day- Tuesday. Ah, the things you do for the love of sport😂! Let's just say the summer of 2016/2017 was not very enjoyable! As for other stuff, the Storm boys are going pretty well considering the move to Queensland due to covid-19 issues. Parra has been a surprise for me this year- I didn't think they'd be doing as well as they have been. Well done Parramatta! The Broncos however, what's going on there? Maybe the only good Queensland team worth supporting right now is the Lions?
@WIP , when you spoke of West Coast Eagles, you reminded me of a trip to Perth I made with my sister in September 2002 where she took me up to Subiaco Oval twice in 2 days where we got to meet Chris Mainwarring and watch the boys train on the Wednesday in their first match of the finals series. Chris was such a great guy- very friendly and he allowed my sister to get a photo of him and her despite his kids being with him. Let's just say I had a whole roll of 36 film photos dedicated to that training session that my sister now treasures. I was at uni in Tasmania when I heard of his passing and was devastated. Such a great player.

Okay sports fans! I'm off to check the NRL scores! All I know is that the Dragons had a win over the Dogs earlier today. May your teams win!

Re: All Things Sport...

Parra had a shocker tonight @Judi9877 and went down to Manly. Manly completely deserved the win - they were the much better team from the first minute of the game. Our old friend @NikNik would be sooooo happy.

Re: All Things Sport...

Swansea must win tonight's match. To think that last September we were top of the EFL league... oh well. That's the beautiful game.
I hope we can make play offs. Will be keen to watch the last two matches this season.
I don't think it's looking good though. And Cardiff will make play offs which sucks too lol.
Doubt they will get through to qualify though.

Hope you are all well
