Re: Is the Meaning of Life really 42?

Well...when you think about it 6 x 7 equals 41.

Lol. I don't know if you're up with all the 6/7 memes at the moment. It's all I hear at work, so just a little joke.

I think the meaning of life is to live it!

I think we're here because we have things to learn, lessons to go through and a purpose to fulfil. That purpose doesn't have to be some grand gesture - it can be as simple as being here to look after my dog. See, personally, my purpose is to teach, but it's not specific about how I do that, or where I do that.

I believe that our soul chooses life because it has things to learn and experiences to go through to make it more expansive. And so...the meaning of life is to live it, and to experience all life throws at us.

I think the bigger, harder question isn't what is the meaning of my life? But how can I give my life meaning?

@Till23 Good morning? How are you? For me the meaning of life ebbs and flows throughout life. It doesn’t have to be this grand thing either. Small things being meaning too. Sometimes when we are unwell we can feel there’s no meaning or purpose too.

I love your rhetorical question. I am old enough to have been around when “Hitch-hikers guide to the galaxy “ came out and was doing science, and hanging out with ITnerds at the time, so really resonated with the irony inherent in the denouement. Eg meaning of life after Lots of computing power as a simple compound of 6 and 7 is highlighting the simplicity and complexity inherent in the concept.

@NightFury lol.. I will look up 6 and 7 memes. Thanks for the heads up. That will be a short lived purpose for me.

@Captain24 I can understand despair and a sense of meaninglessness. It is important for me not to underestimate that aspect.

@Cuddlebear hugs

@Dogman I like your down to earth link and definition. My mind often goes in that direction.

@Former-Member Yes💙

@Chasingsunsets I have lived with uncertainty a lot, so am very open minded about it. I loved that you went deeper.

@Oaktree what a beautiful image.. dancing with God. Love it.

Great discussion generator.

@AuntGlow I am curious what you will write.

For me, it has been about the big topics and small moments and all complexity in between. I tend both thoughtful and action oriented and have feelings about all of life. It might be too long a post if I wrote more. Lol

🙂💙🍎

I often really enjoy this question @Till23, even if it feels weird.

I genuinely feel like the meaning of my life is just to exist and experience things. Period. I don't need to achieve anything in particular or do certain things. I can just live and experience all of the human things life is going to throw at me.

I also believe I can have a lot of small / simpler purposes (like getting out of bed, eating a meal) that can accumulate to something larger.

Try knowing your likes and dislikes...
...ask friends how they view you, look into how you manage yourself, how you think, feel, about everyday things, how you react to other people, is your reaction hyper, normal, low, different most of the time?!
Try good personality tests, read about people you like or want to be like, study something you always wanted to...
...what do you like in other person, is that what you like in yourself...
Are the thoughts getting weird?! what do you perceive beyond daily living habits? ....is it just a plain crust with nothing in it, or layers upon layers of endless life and death cycles and a multidimensional existence?!

It's great to see a range of responses, which is what I expected.

I thought that many/most people would have an individual meaning of life rather than think there was a common one for the everyone.

Perhaps those people just haven't read the question so far

It's interesting to think about animals like our pets and wildlife as they maybe do not consider their meaning of life and just live it.

Do people think that people's meaning of life changes throughout their life?

It depends, the higher one is, the farther they see... just like the artificial satellites armed with cutting-edge Radio to Infrared Space telescopes debunking the long-held theories of space and earth...

The deeper your emotions are, the more you know by feeling, the greater the logic is, the more intense is the intellectual dissection of the 'truth'!!!

With more inventions of better gadgets, the greater the discovery... same applies for the SELF... more the inner search, more in sync with the universe, more the knowledge....

Could be find your way to salvation in jesus and if it's not for you I think the meaning of life is to appreciate each day see nature's beauty actually stop and smell the flowers, that's always free it's in abundance and it's something w at times of having if you lose everything.

and most important know who you are and be able to sit at peace with what you find

@Till23 Hello lovely how are you? How’s your day been?

Yes it’s interesting considering our animals I do wonder what they think. They seem to live in the moment to me. My fur babies just seem very happy being around me and being loved.

I do think meaning of life changes for many of us throughout life. 🙂
