New Here! How Does Social Space Work?

New Here! How Does Social Space Work?

Hey everyone! I joined the forums last night. I'm still getting my head around how this all works.

I'd like to use the Social Space to motivate me and feel less alone. I saw that there are discussion topics but I'm not sure how to post on them. Do I create a new post or reply to an old one?

I've been having a hard time with my mental health recently but I'm really trying to turn things around. I tendered to my plants for the first time in a while. Some of them had died. I guess that means it's a new beginning and time for a fresh start. I might sit outside on my balcony to study today. Time to enjoy the Spring weather. 🌻☀️ Stay safe everyone.

Morning @puppydoglover, what a nice way to start the day!!

@Shaz51 loves her coffee and likely doing the same as you 😊☕️

I love oodles!! They are the cutest!! They are also pretty smart too!

I have never owned a dog needing clipping etc so if I ever got one that would be new for me haha.

I have a kelpie x ACD she is my world 🌏, my best friend!
I can see how the motivation of a therapy dog is a great factor for you!! Oh and working to support your therapy dog yeah I know my girl gets half my wage 😂 not really but yes you love them so much that you just want to give them everything 😂😂.
I find for me, work is a great distraction! Also comes with an instruction manual of how to get things done/ how to fix things etc so I love that too lol 😆
Oh yeah adopting would be cool too, all the dogs you mentioned are great choices!! I also love dogs and I love all animals but maybe not spiders 😂😂
What’s your passion in the vet field what do you like treating or find really interesting etc?

I had to take my girl to the vets the other week. She scratched her eye, likely rolling in the grass with her eyes open :face_with_rolling_eyes: and copped grass or a small stick or something as her third eyelid wouldn’t retract back. She’s done similar so when I saw it I was like - ohh no not again as last time after the dye drop in her eye to see the scratch she had to have the eye dilating drop which meant she had to stay in darkness for awhile to prevent blindness. Thankfully this time she didn’t need that drop! She was back on the chlosig ointment and does know when eye medicine is coming. She hates it but does just lie there and takes it like a good girl. Lots of treats and pats after of course ☺️

Good news it is looking back to normal! The other funny thing the vet said was it’s unusual for a dog to have 2 different third eyelid colours 😅. I told her she did before the exam cos a lot of people sometimes sees the pink/red on her third eyelid on the one side briefly and go “ahh does she have a sore eye” haha.

Nah just has two different eyelid colours lol. But this time you could see the sore one as the side with the black third eyelid wasn’t retracting back all the way.

What’s on for you today?

@Chasingsunsets I like the idea of using dog grooming in a therapeutic way by brushing them. I love dogs with long fur for the sensory aspect. I can't wait to get my own dog, they will definitely be my world! I'll try not to spoil them too much but it's hard haha.

Using work as a distraction is a great way to look at it. What do you do for a job? My favourite animals are dogs so they are my favourite to work with. I find surgeries really interesting but dental surgeries not as much... the sound of forceps scraping tartar off teeth isn't the greatest to listen to 😬

I'm sorry about what happened to your pup I'm glad they're ok! I don't think I've seen a dog with different eyelid colours yet.

I've been doing art and went on a walk, really trying to practice mindfulness. What about you?

hey @puppydoglover how’s your evening going?
I never thought about the therapeutic aspect but definitely see that now!

That’s awesome that you like the surgery aspect I agree re dental surgery haha. Not sure I’d be keen on that either lol.

unfortunately I have to stay boring and can’t mention what I do sorry 😜

what kind of art have you been doing? How was your walk? I love walking 😊

@Chasingsunsets I love all types of art. Right now I'm working on a pencil fine art drawing. It helps me relax.
